Dissapointed

Today, and almost all of last night I have not been able to play a single game without a cheater joining the room. Now now, before you say that im just a noob that doesnt know backwards and forwards. There were atleast 10 other guys that have seen him, and have called him a cheater. He seems to have speed hacks/and can shoot rounds rapidly and so forth.

His name is THE PWNER/ PWNER.

I just hope know one else will catch a breeze from his hacks.

I had always assumed there would be little point for griefers to play cube/sauer, but I guess I was wrong.

I have no solution for the cheating problem in the general case.

My advise to people that play multiplayer: get to know people you enjoy playing with. Meet them on IM or even better, IRC. get on servers together, lock it with mastermode, enjoy.

Lacking anything better, I suggest players meet in #sauerbraten on quakenet irc. But I guess at some point a dedicated player lobby channel would be good.

Doesn't matter how hard game builders try, people will try to cheat...we all have to learn how to use mastermode to control such problem people. Sucks that we have to do so at all. I just do not see what a person gets from cheating in a mp game...the thought of it seems silly to me ( this coming from a person that gets my ass kicked by everyone, even on my own maps! ) since if a person does it right, the only person to notice is the cheater...so whats accomplished? a shame, no doubt.

It is possible to collect enough health bonuses to do that, especially when playing against new commers - it isn't cheating, but it isn't sporting either...

Well as a good player, what are you going to do? Purposely lose? All the good players have played alot of SP and originally played Cube alot as well. New players can try playing Cube SP then Cube DMSP, then Cube MP, then Sauer DMSP, then Sauer MP :) Then you will be good at Cube/Sauer.

I have been playing Cube since early 2003, and I didn't have net back then, so from 2003-2005 it was all DMSP/SP stuff for me. Trust me, its good practise.

Add a console command to Sauer called "killall". Does just that - kills everyone except the player who invokes the command instantly.

Then, the nastiest cheat possible is already included in the game, and as such any cheater would be wasting their time makign hacks. The kilall command is dead obvious, so you know who to kickban.

What gets me are the weirdos who still insist on playing (on different servers) even when people keep kicking them for cheating... can't they take a hint?

Exactly what are they trying to prove? "look I'm imortal" - kick. "look I've 12000 frags" - kick. "look I can fly through walls" - kick. But they keep comming back, same IP, same name - urrgghh.... sorry.

Not that many people are on Sauer or Cube as much. Going to another server is a waste of time since no one is in another server half the time.

That's why I suggested you organize games by waiting for people in IRC. Waiting on servers is kinda pointless.

Is there Something like a kickvote implemented? If everyone could just type "kick ##" and if enough votes are present, the player gets kicked, that was good, sort of.
