Texture Filter?

I assume Cube Engine and Saur use Billinear Texture Filtering; if this is the case how could I make it use Trillinear Texture Filtering and would it be a terribly hard task?

Well I am planning on making a mod that uses single colour textures. So they arnt really textures but you know what I mean..

And well with Billinear they will just look 2D as with Trillinear they will be shaded to look 3D. :)

My mod is going to be a really really simple retro 3D shooting game with very simple low-poly models and no real textures. :)

I donĀ“t understand this. What does the filtering method have to do with shading?
