how often do I have to answer this question for you? it's not "some stupid bug in cube", it's the half-implemented buggy drivers for your ancient ati card.

i think u should stay away from the ATI range...

the GeForce 4 is cheaper than the GF 3 atm, i would think of going for the 64mb version of that, or at least a GF2

I would recommend the geforce2mx if you want something cheap for cube. But DoomIII is comming, which is going to start a rush of people releasing cards specifically to perform well in Doom. Everything else should become cheaper then.

a gf2mx is the best price/performance tradeoff for cube. a gf4/420 is also very good.

it's a sad fact that only nvidia seems to do relatively stable opengl drivers.

If there is any way to get rid of this guy, please do it.

Don't forget, blue_shift7@hotmail.com is his e-mail address if you want to let him know how much you like him...

Yours is not a condonable action, jsHcK, but today I have 'mysteriously' received pr0n spam into an email account that has never *ever* had spam email, as I use it exclusively for my Bascule alias and it appears on *very* few internet forums.

me begins to wonder... and I don't like the vibes I'm picking up :(((((

Anyone else getting the same vibes?

Bascule, what are you implying? Even if you use your email on only very few forums, it is still subject to bots which are spidering the web and collecting email adresses for spamming. I'm 100% that this board has been spidered already. You cannot protect yourself against spam (short of not using the internet or not using your email adress).

#19: We can figure out who did it.

by Topher on 06/11/2002 23:39

Bascule, I too just recently received some notifications from some porn email lists. I know they probably weren't from spidering because these particular emails say at the top of them, you have signed up to our mailing lists from the IP address of xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx. to confirm your subscriptions please reply, etc..... I think someone signed up for them using my email address. I was going to do some tracing on the IP address that it mentioned although I didn't think I was going to get anywhere with it. Now that you have brought this up however, I think it narrows my search. Something else to note is that each of the email subscriptions I received that listed the supposed IP address I signed up from all showed the SAME IP address. So they were all signed up by the same person within a short amount of time of each other. Close enough for the individual to not receive a new IP address via DHCP. Bascule, check those email's you received. See if any of them list the IP address that the person signing up is from. If so, post that IP address up here. Although the IP address of the person signing up will change, there is a good chance that the first two octets of the address will match up to the person on this forum that signed us up. That is, if that's what did happen. If it WAS someone on this board, there is also the chance that they posted here shortly around the time they subscribed the porn lists. Each one of these posts track the IP address of the person posting. There is a chance that the exact IP address could match up. I'll check again when I get home, that's where I have the emails stored. I'll post again here with the IP when I get there.

Ok, this is the exact text that several of the porn emails said:

-----------------------------

This is not a spam, someone from ip 172.193.89.229 requested a subscription to this free newsletter at EST on the . You must confirm your subscription to get the daily emails.

-----------------------------

Now, if we comb through these forums, I think we should be able to figure out exactly who signed us up. What do you think?
