Graphics settings?

by Casanunda on 03/14/2006 21:42, 7 messages, last message: 03/17/2006 10:30, 943 views, last view: 05/03/2024 15:21

Hi everyone,

I downloaded Cube today, but when I try it out, it\'s extrememly slow.

I\'m running a Sony Vaio laptop :/ - 2.9GHz Celeron with 382MB, and a 128MB ATI 345M graphics card...

I\'m assuming the graphics card is the problem, but I can play plenty of other games on here no problem. Browsing through the other people\'s questions on here, the only answer people seem to get for problems like this is \"Get a new graphics card\", but I was wondering if there\'s any way to change the graphics settings at all...

If anybody would be able to help me with this, I\'d be very grateful :D

All you can try is lower the graphics settings for your card.
16bit colours, and turn anisotropic filtering and anti aliasing off.
You can try 800x600 by modifying the cube.bat

OK thanks a lot makkE..

When you say lower the graphics settings for my card, you mean the system settings rather than the game settings do you?

Probably a silly question, but I gotta check...

Yes, in the properties of your card.

Hmmm tried that, and it still doesn't like it. I guess I just can't play this game...

lower the screen reolution to 800x600 or even 640x480 (modify the cube.bat)

#6: something seems funky

I have run cube at a solid 60fps on the following system:

500mhz Celeron
32mb nVidia gForce2 video
256 meg ram
windows ME

the video card propeties were set just like makkE said: "16bit colours, and turn anisotropic filtering and anti aliasing off".

and the .bat modified to run at 800x600,

perhaps try a different version driver (if thats possible for the laptop), and try turning off some of the apps that are running in the background.

best of luck - mitaman

#7: similar problem

I have a notebook with the following specs:

Pentium 4 2.0Ghz
512MB Ram
Mobility Radeon 7000
Windows XP Pro SP2

and I only get around 25 or even 15 FPS on Cube (btw this is at 640x480, 16bit colours) on map metl3.

I think this might have something to do with the Hydravision drivers from ATI.
