ok thats great, but fusion mod breaks copyright laws and im sorry but it adds nothing new or intresting to cube. a few new maps and a few new textures, it has no additional gameplay.

makkE you have criticised my mod before I have released it. Please hold your complaints until after I have released it, so you can see what it actually is ok.

Honestly, your fusion mod is good, but there has been better. And the voice acting really fuckin sucks. The levels are fun, but the voice overs suck. Leave the Cube engine and everything else to Arrd. Thank you. ;)

dude the mod breaks the law.. if you like it so much, repackage it so it is an ADDON for cube only containing new content. you list it as a mod but a mod 'modifies' the game that is already there. all this 'thing' has is like a few new maps, some crappy voice overs and a new soundtrack (which I must admit is half decent).

UT2k4's lightweight mutators make this work much better - it relegates teeny-tiny little mods to the ghetto of the Mutator list, thus making sure that players and developers know their place. A "mod" is not a new game. You didn't "make a new game" - you made a mod. I love mods. I love going from server to server in ut2k4 trying out all the little half-assed crap people have thrown together.
But none of them claim to make a new game.

i know it breaks copywright.. but most mods DONT EVEN HAVE voice overs.
It's much like the monster machine series from spentron, but better (forgetting its illegal)

mm has 5 maps.
fusion has 10 or 15.
also, fusion has custom weapons, sounds, monsters, ammo, and a different feel by tuning down the gamespeed.
i do agree it can be boring at times and is sctrictly speaking illegal.. But can u honestly say u havent had boring parts in comercial games?
also, impp_d has lost interest in fusion apparently so uhm.. :/

\"And I can already tell you, all the files I made, I am not going to allow you to use them unless its something really special (such as Death Illustrated, or the upcoming Action Cube).\"
Hold the phone here...
From the sounds readme file:
\"The \"aard\" ones are all 100% original material, often
created with my own voice or otherwise. They are hereby
placed in the public domain as well.\"
From the Aard readme file:
\"Original textures made by Aardappel
aardf* : made from a photo I took, then made to tile
aardo* : made completely from scratch (photoshop mostly)
aardm* : made using a free texture base but modified unrecognisibly
All texture tile well.
These textures are completely free to use in any way you like,
including using them as base for others. I couldn\'t care less
if you credit me or not.
Aardappel (wouter@fov120.com)
wouter.fov120.com/maps\"
I\'m pretty sure the above means that people CAN do whatever the hell they want with the sounds and texture files, because you SAID SO in your readme files.
So what files are you talking about here, that you won\'t give permission to use? I can understand the docs file, ok, that\'s fine. But other than that, I really don\'t see anything else in the game that you haven\'t given permission to use already. And once you place something in the public domain, or use an open source license, you can\'t all of a sudden change your mind and say \"Oh, they\'re all copyrighted works by me, and you can\'t use them!\"
As far as I can see here, you can\'t demand mod makers take down their mods completely, only demand that they remove the docs folder from their install, unless there\'s other content in cube that you made, which I can\'t find. If that\'s the case, PLEASE englighten us which files you\'ve created and where the relevant readme.txt file is regarding them.
You CAN encourage them to remove copyrighted content from other authors, but you have no claim to that content, and therefore have no means of enforcement regarding that content.

Aard, close cource the Fps part of it and keep the Engine part open so serious people can still do good stuff based on it. Don't close the whole thing, please.

you got me there, apparently I did place those files in the public domain. But it doesn't matter, as my files are just a small part of the media included.
What I am arguing against is people wholesale copying the entire cube/sauer distribution for their own "mod". If you want to use my sounds/textures in something that is REALLY your own, then more power to you.
making the game code closed is an interesting idea.. except that its also the most useful part to be open. I will have to think about this.
