Are there any portable versions of Cube 2? If not, would someone mind telling me how to make it portable?

What OS are you on? It's already prebuilt for Windows, Linux, and Mac, and it has source code that's already able to compile on ANY OS that has OpenGL and SDL. So yes, it's portable.
Just go to sourceforge.net and download the files for your OS.

I played some great multiplayer maps on the server the other day, but the maps do not appear in my menu. How do I get these maps?
Thanks

I guess he means portable in the sense of launching sauerbraten from a memorystick.
Even that is possible, just copy the sauerbraten directory to a memorystick and carry it along. You may even copy the Mac, Linux and Windows executables into the same directory, so you can play sauer on any platform. =D

I`m very very new to linux, I have Ubuntu (latest from the cd) I do not have internet connection yet, right now I`m sitting behind my office win. and downloading cube2 sauer... a gz file for linux with the size 136 MB. Now when I grab it on my Mem.stick and bring it home will it work? or to I need anything else?
I apologise if it`s a FAQ but I did not have the time to scroll all the forum, My English is not my native language and it takes time and patience to translate it all in my head. Greetings from Estonia.

Depends if Ubuntu comes with the necessary dependancies (which is not guaranteed), and if they're available on the install disk if you need to update from it (again, not guaranteed).
Really, you need to get that thing online. Ubuntu is a huge pain without an internet connection to run Synaptic with.

linux w/o interwebs access is usually not full-fledged - access to some interwebs package-repository is _strongly_ encouraged :)
[for Ubuntu check : /etc/apt/sources.list ]
I'm not sure but strongly suspect you'll be missing some SDL libs.

mardu make sure you have sdl/image and sdl/something or other. But don't worry the shell in Ubuntu will tell you if you need the files and you can synaptic manager them from the ubuntu cd.

Well thank you everyone, I have allready found out that ubuntu offline is a real pain in. that`s why I was asking. I have allready beg`d my internet provider to hurry the F**K up but it still takes time, due to my living in a forest the onlyest solution is a wifi based wimax connection wich requiers a lot of equipment and installing. I`ll try to find those files now if its possible. If I`ll get my connection I`ll try freespire instead. once again thank you and to all a good night!

On Sauerbraten, how do you change the sky on new maps so that is not always this fluffy bright blue sky? (i can do imaging (Paintshop), so if you can just direct me to what it is i need to do to change it via script, that would be fine)
