Ello!

You may have seen me in Cube. Well, this time i'm here on the forum (for the first time, heh) and I didn't come here with empty hands, no. I brought a soundpack that I put together for all of you who are bored of the default sounds!

The sounds come from various sources like Quake3 Arena, Counterstrike and some other games.

The replaced sounds are:

-shotgun
-rifle
-chaingun
-rocketlauncher
-rocket explosion
-jumppad
-teleport
-quad start
-quad wear off
-no ammo click
-pain sounds
-death sounds

The link to download is: http://www.geocities.com/illegalnameshrimp/NiElZ-cubesounds.zip

To install it:
just extract the pack in cube/packages (not cube/packages/sounds) and 'Yes' to overwrite old files.
(make a backup of the Sounds folder before installing, if you wish)

Mh, copyright? Meh.. who cares, there's hundreds of games out there with sound packs containing sounds of commercial games, heh!

While many commercial games (and radio stations, and TV ads, and everything else) filch sounds, they usually do, actually, pay for them. You just don't hear about it, 'cause it's not something they really feel the need to advertise.

Now, if you want good, free sound content, iirc the Abuse game content was opened - dunno if it's for freeware use only - but it's got some awsome sound effects...

damn, according to the Wikipedia article on the game, everything but the game's nice sound effects are public domain. Crud.

I don't like creating my own sounds since they always suck anyway, I tried that long ago but it just didn't feel right when using them in the game. Not I like constant pain moans while playing, in reallife when someone gets shot by a machine gun, he doesn't constantly give a different moan for each bullet either :P

Now enough talk about copyright, it's gonna kill the subject of this thread xD

not to moan or anything but your "crushing a peice of paper" sound isn't very "human" either ;D

What you should REALLY do is add a readme file to your pack that clearly states these are ripped off sounds.

You got the usual readme in there, which might give the impression those sounds were free, which could get someone else in serious trouble. Remember the zlib licence also allows commercial use of the engine.
If anyone makes a game based on cube, and uses your sounds, because he falsely assumed they were free, he could be really fucked...

I never made a readme for my soundpack, but I noticed just now I forgot to take out the readme that was included with the game "readme.txt.bak", the readme that gives information about the *default sounds*

I'll update the package asap.
