Hi, I think it would be a great idea to make a open counter-strike clone based on the cube engine. The graphik is ok, cs 1.6 doesnt look much better. And I think there isnt so much to be modified. The only problem is i cant programm ^^. If there would be a easy to use SDK... Maybe this thread brings stuff to discuss...

p.s. sry for my bad english...

the thing about that idea is

theres a game called counterstrike.. and if you want to play it, then play it

i think u want someone to do this because you cant fork out the money to pay for counterstrike

I have three original counter-strike versions and one half-lifeĀ². Why was cube developed? Didn't they have money for doom or quake? Yes I want someone to do this WITH me. I can make models like weapons and player. I think you are only a troll...

You could check out True Combat:

I never played CS, but I think this mod gets pretty close.

Its 'just' free as in free beer though.

True Combat has much more rewarding gameplay for me. Better graphics aswell if you care about it. It's certainly a good option if you're running linux. Just download Wolfenstien Enemy Territoty first (also free).

I am working on a more realistic mod based on Cube but as people have said before, it requires a complete rewrite of quite a bit of stuff. I don't plan to have any noticable changes outside of the source for a while.

The focus of what I'm working on is more to do with writing intelligent game agents than anything else.

Also, you could apply for a real devkit from sony at http://www.scedev.net/2bldev/

I doubt they would send you one, though, unless you have published games before and represent a company.
