It should look a little bit like the same but I want to fill the mod with new ideas!
I am German... Sorry for my bad English!
I need help!

hallo Deadman,

I'm not part of the development team, I just made the website.

#3: CS mod

by Aardappel on 05/17/2002 17:16

I thought of adding a CS mod to cube just for fun. I could simply make players walk 10x as slow, make all guns highly randomised (realism, you know), remove team colouring, allow people only to shoot while standing still, and freeze people in place while being hit.

That would accurately reproduce the great experience that CS is. I am a fan too, can't you tell?

Ok, this is just a silly comparison but hopefully it will get some people thinking.

If I opened a restaurant that sold only hamburgers and people kept asking me if, and when, I would ever sell chicken sandwiches. Personally, I dislike chicken sandwiches and continued to tell them that over and over again. Regardless of my opinion about the bland flavor of chicken. What overall effect would it have on the popularity and exposure of my business if I kept a closed mind about selling chicken sandwiches and refused to do so?

Topher, the difference is that in this restaurant, you get your food for free and the people behind the counter are making your hamburgers for fun. It is no business.

#7: 5363 nu-economy solutions but no answers

by Goetzenzar on 05/17/2002 23:12, refers to #6

A:"einmal 9 chickenmcnuggets mit curry"
B:"chicken 9er bitte!"
(this thread makes me hungry, perhaps submit burgers (in .md2 format)

I believe in the wrong ways of history, cube is the new neandertaler(task) in 3d-fps evolution.

Heil der silbernen Mondkartoffel!

In kleine würfelchen zerhackt,
in .cgz verpackt,
und kein Spiegelbild das mir aehnlich sieht. ECILA

* what sleepwalker said. I just LOVE hamburgers
* I believe this is the first time I am being nasty towards CS?
* I was actually being serious in that I had a plan to add such a mod a while ago.

#9: mode

by pushplay on 05/18/2002 19:48

A ctf mode might not be too easy the way the game is currently set up, but how about one of those modes where one person is made "it" who can't shoot, and he racks up points for time until gunned down, and then his killer becomes "it?"

I didn't mean to upset anyone with my comparison post. Just trying to add to the conversation.

I am assuming that Aardappel would like to see CUBE become as successful and popular as possible. I was only trying to help.

If I was out of line, I apologize.

#14: it sounds corny but...

by Aardappel on 05/20/2002 02:26

successfullness was never an aim. I made cube exactly how I like it, which goes contrary to what most people like. Cube is full of features/ideas that are very unpopular. If I wanted to be successfull, I would have made one of those 1 week quake engine clones, slapped some cheesy "realism" gameplay ideas on top.

First Step: I have changed the normal cube sounds! The Rifle sounds like the AWP in CS, the Chaingun like the AK47, the player sounds have been changed, too. The body armour sound is different now... It sounds like the putting on the kevlar west in CS! Next I will convert a Quake model or a HL model for the player skins and I will change the HUD and the titles...

Sorry for my veeeeery bad English again! :)

I think that you are worried about that the gameplay will be like the CS gameplay...

I can only say: The gameplay will be much faster ass the normal CS and full of action! I will not copy the gameplay of CS 1.4 (yuck!)!!!
