Sauerbraten: LINUX USERS

by eihrul on 05/25/2005 19:17, 3 messages, last message: 05/26/2005 01:06, 1012 views, last view: 04/21/2024 17:19

The Linux binaries included in the zip file got DOSified and corrupted in transit. Make sure you download the linux_binaries.tar.gz that's next to the zip file in the download section, and unpack that over the sauerbraten directory the zip file created.

The included binaries are only built for Nvidia cards. If your card is not from Nvidia (ATI, etc.), OR the included binaries don't work, then build from the source!

To do that, go into the enet directory and type "./configure". Then go into the src directory and type "make;cp sauer_client ../sauerbraten/bin_unix/linux_client;cp sauer_server ../sauerbraten/bin_unix/linux_server".

The configure script was also DOSified. You may need to run dos2unix on it, and then make it executable.

Additionally, the included Enet doesn't seem to work. I downloaded Enet and installed that, and the sauer binaries were built successfully. However, The segmentation fault still occurs at startup....and this is with Nvidia.

I'm thinking i might need to dig into the Makefile.

my bad on the dosified configure script.
Seem i was still looking in the zip archive.

At any rate, the compile still failed...there are no sources in the src directory.
I copied them from the zip file and it seems to have built...but still crashes.

again...my mistake. I copied the files over to Slackware, on the same machine, and it ran fine. So the problem i have must be a problem with Suse, not Sauerbraten.

Sorry for cluttering up an otherwise useful thread.
