Please help with my connection!

I really love this game but i have been having problems with multiplayer. I will enter a game and begin to play and about 5 or 10 minutes in it will spontaneously disconnect. I have no idea why it does this but it is a huge pain and I was wondering if anyone knew what to do! Thanks

hmm, you poor guy, sorry i cant help

it might not be cube, just your internet connection / firewall

oh and what error message(s) does it give (if any) when you 'spontaneously disconnect'? have you always had this problem?

After you are disconnected, can you instantly connect again? If yes, it's probably a connection interruption, caused buy a firewall/router or by a wireless LAN.
Maybe it's just a security procedure of your OS??

I think maybe hes referring to the network server error...disconnected message which pops up on games from time to time?
That is some problem with Cube rather than a problem with equipment I understand.
I believe that Aard was looking at that a while ago? Maybe its fixed in the next release? Hope so - it can be very annoying sometimes.

yes exactly it says server error so does that mean it could be my firewall or is it definitely a problem with cube?

I think its a Cube error. Not something specific to your Cube - its a small bug in the program I understand.
If it was a firewall error, you would find yourself getting other disconnections as well. But the server network error message is one which is Cube specific. I can even reproduce it if I run my own server here and connect to that via localhost ( I use Linux). Now and again, I get disconnected with the usual error message.
Sometimes, if you get the message in a public server, then go back to the browse servers list, the server you were on a few seconds before with several others is empty. Other times it seems to only be one or two players who get the disconnection.
Maybe Aard will comment on this problem?

Reinstalling won't stop the disconnections :( The best thing is to choose low ping servers - a high ping seems to increase disconnections.

I can't fix what I can't reproduce. From your description it sounds like your ISP you need to talk to, or you have software/driver issues.

To be fair Aard, I think Jim is referring to the network server error...disconnecting message which is fairly common.
Sometimes it affects one person in a server, other times it seems to take everyone off the server.
Likewise, sometimes it can happen with very high frequency, but other times, you can play all day without seeing it.
I am not sure if it is related to the actual server the game is running on or not.
If I run a dedicated server on my own system, sometimes that disconnects me - even though others are still playing! As I am connected via localhost, I dont think my ISP is to blame in that instance - yet it still happens.
OK, its not usually too bad, but it can sometimes make a days Cubing a miserable affair when you get thrown off every few minutes at times.
