Linux FPS

Hi there. I tried running Cube on my Linux box, and it runs rather slow. At 320x240 I get 5FPS. Of course this is to do with my cruddy specs (800mhz 384mb ram). Also, I don\'t think there are any Linux drivers for my gfx card (an old S3 Savage2000, if anyone knows if there are Linux drivers, please tell me). So, is there any way that I can increase the FPS? (Such as turning off audio, toning down gfx, etc). And how?
Thank you,
smashed_egg

Your system is software-emulating Cube's graphics. Don't bother playing with audio or anything - its all about getting the drivers.

Ah, thought so. Any idea if there are any drivers available for my gfx card?

Unfortunately, these drivers do not support the Savage2000 :(

my advice-get a good price NVidia and download drivers from NVidia directly. I'm running Cube on an 800Mhz with an NVidia TNT2 and it runs quite smooth. As for S3 Cards, you probably should get an old version of XFree86 until you get decent drivers. If you have Xfree86 version 4 or higher, chances are old cards aren't supported. Get version 3.6 or something.

I apologize for double posting, if that offends anyone, but I found a resource that may assist you. http://www.probo.com/timr/savage40.html#download has some S3 drivers, which supposedly (by what I've read) are included in XFree86 4.3.0. I'm not sure if they include Hardware acceleration, but it looks like the best bet for Linux users. It's a pity S3 only carries Windows drivers for their latest cards.
