Cube & Cube 2 FORUM

Cube on PDA - Installation, guides, issues,...

by MadrockX on 02/17/2005 04:04, 18 messages, last message: 03/08/2005 14:40, 2594 views, last view: 05/02/2024 23:19

Hi people! Started this thread cos I've
problems installing cube into my XDA 2.
I figured that those with other PDAs than Dell Axim X50 will also have problems installing it, running and so on.

So here, I'm looking forward to compile a complete walkthrough from installation to playing the game, single or multi player mode, and of course troubleshooting.

Looking forward to your contributions!

It's good idea to build game for older devices, without 16 MB GPU and VGA screen.

I know that it would be extremely slow, but some special effects can be disabled, like fog, transparent water, shadows, and so on...
Also QVGA resolution is not a VGA, less processor power needed.

#9: Replace strafe with turns on PocketPC

by Jdoe on 02/22/2005 20:08

Hi All,

I wonder if somebody can modify the source for PocketPC to replace strafing with turns.

It's hard to run and shoot with one hand and then steere with stylus the same time.
Being able to turn rather than strafe using PPC joystick would be much easier.
Strafing can be bound to other buttons...

Any suggestions will be appreciated.

using data/keymap.cfg as a guide, rebind what you feel works best. that way it's personalized and all

tentus,

It seems that "right" and "left" from keymap.cfg are referring to strafe right and strafe left, at least in PDA version.
I don't see any other commands to use in bind that would let me turn around without using mouse or stylus in case of PDA...

Not sure if it is PDA version limitation and the game itself is made this way?

Any suggestions?

ok, i understand now. i have no idea how to do that then. the game is made so that angle changes are done with the mouse, which is not rebindable

This is an FPS, I\'m for one thanking the developer for finally using the left/right button as strafe keys instead of bloody turning.. maybe you should go back to playing puzzle games if you don\'t know how to use the mouse/keyboard combo ;).

This thread is about cube on pda's, not about cube on a pc... on pda's it'd make sense to turn, not strafe...

er... that was uncalled for. the thread is obviously half-decent, seeing the comments it has garnered. your comment would be better considered spam. oh, and could you follow pinouz's example and use punctuation a bit more? i can't make out what you are trying to impart from your rubbish. which may be indicative of entire comment's value...

pinouz: are you asking why you lag on ALL cube maps or a specific one? if you're using a X50v i fear that any map will lag, seeing as the hardware is so limited. if you're not using a palm then this isnt the right thread, but oh well.
