The port of Cube created by Intel for their latest mobile cpu & 3d chipset has been uploaded to sourceforge. You can get it in the files section as usual here:

http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=91993

Some (older) screenshots are here:

http://cubeengine.com/cube_intel_pda/

And the hardware you need to run this is available for example here:

http://www1.us.dell.com/content/products/productdetails.aspx/axim_x50v?c=us&cs=19&l=en&s=dhs

#31: new, optimized, version

by Aardappel_ on 04/13/2005 03:57

http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=91993

New binary that is an optimized version of the previous release (up to 40% faster). This is the release as demoed by Intel at GDC. No new source as the extra speed is purely from using a new version of Intel's compiler.

#32: FAQ:

by Aardappel_ on 04/13/2005 03:59, refers to #31

Oh and, some FAQ's Jeff answered from questions on this forum:

1) The stylus is the only way to turn at the moment (exactly like the
mouse in PC Cube). I may address this if there is a next release.
2) Using the stylus slows the game down, this is a known issue.
3) There is no installer application; to play they must put it on a
CF/SD card or transfer the entire game via Activesync.
4) Using hacks or tweaks such as the GAPI one are not supported and can
cause the game to not run.
5) Cube will only run on a Dell Axim X50v or better, the game will crash
on PDAs without graphics accelerators.

#37: Multiplayer

by maarten on 04/22/2005 23:15

Hi

It could be that I am doing something worng but the multiplayer function does not work over here. I followed the instructions by replacing the cube.exe file on my normal pc (wanted to do multiplayer between pc and pocketpc) but then when opened the server.bat file It gave an error: "error _FSOUND_Stream_Open@16 could be found in the fmod.dll"

Does anybody know how to fix this?

cheers

#38: x50v video

by NeoG on 05/04/2005 00:57

This is a video of the GL|ES build of cube running on my x50v, for anyone that wants to see it in action (was from my webcam so the quality isn't perfect :D).

bulletcrazy: the i-mat looks good, besides the fact theres no vga, cf slot, bluetooth, replacable battery etc.

Aardappel_: if you dont mind copying it that would be great, i'm not sure what sort of restrictions my ISP imposes on personal webspace.

#43: Low resolution mode

by NeoG on 05/05/2005 15:29, refers to #42

By the way, can GL|ES initialise a lower resolution window on a VGA screen (e.g hardware pixel doubling), in hopes of gaining a higher FPS?

#44: Software Rendering

by Sparr on 05/09/2005 14:58

cube on a PDA with a hardware accelerator... what if you used software rendering? im talking about levels with average WQD on the order of 50-100. small rooms, low detail. would that be feasible?

Has anyone made ported it to the Palm operating system? My dad has a PDA but with Palm, so he cant use it

P.S. The metroid: prime hunters demo for the nintendo DS uses the stylus for looking as well

Any chance this could be modified to work strictly off of GAPI for x-scale PocketPCs without a graphics accelerator?
