Simle instructions:

1. download the tar.gz and extract to your home directory
2. Open a console and type this command: cd ~/cube
3. Then type ./cube_unix

there you go.

#4: Black screen!

by MK on 02/23/2005 21:16

All this I have done, but when I run ./cube_unix the screen goes blank and nothing is happening. The computer is not responding, Ctrl-alt-del, Alt-tab, Ctrl-alt-esc, nothing helps. So I had to shut down the computer manually by power button. I am running Mandrake 10.1 Official. Any help would be very appreciated.

I\'m running cube_2004_05_22.tar.gz on mdk 10.1, but I not
use $ ./cube_unix to start it.

After extract the game, go to cube\'s root directory and type:

$ ln -s bin_unix/linux_client

Then you can run the game with this new simbolic link:

$ ./linux_client

This simbolic link must be located on game\'s root directory.
\'linux_client\' don\'t work directly from /cube/bin_unix/ directory.

Perhaps you should make sure your video card drivers support hardware OpenGL? Or maybe you have to install OpenGL as well. If you have an NVidia or ATI card, download their Linux drivers from the respected sites.... I run Cube under Mandrake 10.1 perfectly fine, and I\\\'m using the NVidia drivers.

I can't help with getting Cube to run, but if you get stuck at a black screen, try switching to a console with Ctrl-Alt-F1 and killing the process from there.
