hello,

i want to know how i can add a menu seperate from the game itself.

i want to be able to choose;
resolution
map/mission
music
and possibly other stuff.

i have worked out a simple yet slow way to have the resso change.

have a new simple program made in any language - liberty basic for one.

have a simple menue with all the diferent ressose you want and link them to a .bat file with that resso.

the bad thing is that you have to make lots of .bat files with different ressolutions.

And one other thing I found out is , you know that dos window that stays open when you exit, i found how to close it automaticly when you wiut the game.

you right click the .bat file, properties, then the program tab, them select the "close on exit" box.
them their will be a short cut in the dir of the .bat file.

now don't just copy the short cut, at least in win98se it stuffs up. what you have to do is :

create a new short cut(right click then new then short cut, ect) then brouse for the short cut to the .bat file.

then the short cut you just made, you can copy that one and it will work fine.

complex huh?

i want make a graphic menu with .avi intro , music and mission selection

how?

thanks for reading, i hope i helped someone or didn't repeat someone and someone helps me.

I can't help you but if you want to see something similar to what you're trying to do (if I understand correctly) already done in a Cube game try Death Illustrated:

I... couldn't find anything similer to what i am trying to achieve.

let me restate what i want to do:

1) have an .avi intro
2) a menu (not the cube menus in the game with the map in the background)
and in the menu i want to have:
resolution selection
music track selection
the map/mission selection
dificulty
all the tweaking options

3)Then it goes into my version of the cube game.
cobe loads first!! the map you just selected. not "mel3"
4)if you die, you get a menu ,in cube, of weather you start again or go back to the start menu.
5)and once you have finnished the maps/missions objective, then you get stats page (like quake 1)and once you click, it closes cube and goes back to the start menu.

please help me.

1) Learn c++ and search for an OS independent avi lib

2) Learn c++ and make your own menu classes

3) edit source/src/main.cpp on line 188, compile it.

4+5) Learn c++

=)

i too would like to know how to code in a master menu, maybe not as ambitious as what he's asking for, but a master menu nonetheless. the problem is, everything i know about computers is self taught, from hardware to 3d animation, but i'm finding teaching myself c++ out of my grasp.

any pointers where/how to code in a menu? i'm thinking cube.h but it's dubious.
