How can i make my own 3D game/engine without scripting

by jean pierre on 10/09/2004 15:45, 14 messages, last message: 10/23/2004 16:06, 7031 views, last view: 05/03/2024 21:35

Is there a program that you can use without scripting to make 3D game's or anything i do have 3D Max but is there a 3D game Designer without need of scripting?

on your definition of "own 3D game"... By changing the models, sounds and making a SP campaign you can already make something very different without coding (like Fusion or VectorX). basic scripting is still recommended.

...if you want to modify gameplay, you must either use much scripting on a modular engine, or much coding in Cube engine (like Quad)

for making your own 3D *engine*, then you need elite coding skills.

but i doubt you'll get somewhere close to making a brand new 3D game without both scripting *and* coding skills.

the darkbasic guys are working on a FPScreator (much better than their old 3d game creator...). to make a basic FPS you'll need very few coding skills, afaik...

check out genesis 3d or reality factory, hey are free, but the quality is more like that of a game made in 1998. hope this helps.

hey, you want a free game creation suite, with excellent 3D modelling, and all that?

www.blender3D.com should fit the bill. I\'t free, open-source, and a really small download.

You can easily make a small (very boring) game in 50 hours or so, using flowchart programming. It is also an excellent 3D creatiob suite, used in films like Spiderman 2 and such.

Hope this helps.

I suppose it is possible that you can create cool game's in Blender not just frogger like you can make an FPS in Blender

Blender was used by a single person in the pre-production of Spider-man for concept art. The new version of the Blender game engine has an unresolved issue with the GPL license, making it insuitable for use in commercial products (yet) and the old version is a little outdated. The old version also contains the FMOD sound library and although it's legal, later the FMOD people discouraged use of their DLL in a way that hides the file inside an exe, etc.

However I recommend that program too, it's really great! Those conflicts only made it more interesting and popular :)

well, there was a guy named Pierron, who was french and made FPS games from scratch in 50 or so hours (that\'s why I said that). I lost his website though. His games were\'nt polished...but they did look really cool.

He made racing games, FPS games and al kinds of stuff. The FPS games were made for friends...and usually used his friend\'s faces on the skins too ;)

If you have ever played Escape from mokey island 3? I think it was...it was made in blender.

So anyway...my point was that a early-teenager, with no experience in game creation can make a pretty-not-bad FPS game for his friends in 50 hours......what can a group of people do in 2000+ hours?
