http://transfusion.deathmask.net/
Its a blood-like game based on the quake1 engine(you won't need quake1).

http://hosted.tribalwar.com/legends/
This is a tribes like game(you won't need tribes). Graphically its pretty good but finding someone to play online with is rather hard.

so that's why im asking for some 3D engine's opengl isn't a website based for these thing's Andrew Gardner's engine is continuing but the bad thing on Cube is that you can't make roof's you have to make it collide with the very up/down so it isn't that powerfull but still fun to me :)

99% of all "engines" out there do not come with a playable game. Those that are games tend to be built on the quake bsp format, so are not really much of an engine. Cube is quite unique in that sense.

The only free games/engines that I know of are ones that are based on opensourced retail software: Abuse-SDL, Doom Legacy, Tenebrae Quake. In those cases, there are free libraries of data available to replace the copyrighted retail content (except Abuse where I understand the content is free too). But Open Quartz and Free DOom (the content packages) are kind ugly compared to the base.

No other freeengine I've seen has Cube's powerful, easy, in-engine editor. Most of them involve a learning curve from hell to map for. Quick question: do other engines even express map geometry in a way that an editor could even be made? Or is Cube unique in this? I looked for those features in Irrlicht and Ogre but I couldn't find anything.

#8: free game engines...

Hey, so I hear you wanna know some info about some cool game engines.

Well, I hear Quake3 engine is gonna be open-source by the end of the year.

Also, an engine that will soon be released into open-source is XUengine, from opcoder.com and it looks REALLY cool!

doom1/2 obviously didn't have ingame editing, but at least their map format was very closely tied to their editing format. You can just grab an editor, and start editing the original doom maps (in binary format!)

#10: The reason i hate Cube......

by Lavaball on 10/08/2004 06:50

There are 2 reason's

1)You can't lock map's so the other won't edit it cause of lack of cheating in SP map's by going trough no-clip and cheat like that so lock map's feature would not allow that map to be edited or atleast has password so you can use the password to go to editing that map

2)You can't make room's over room's or floating platform's they must collide with the very bottom and/or the very top which make's it harder for editing so in the next release i hope you can make it possible without must be colliding with the very top/bottom would make it more cool for editing

Wrong and wrong. Room over room is done using platform object. Sauerbraten handles it better. And you can lock maps - just don't play on coopedit when fighting. Play DM maps.

Nice site but they've written about Cube that it's alpha. I don't think it was ever alpha, it's beta or production stable ever since its release..
