rockets blow up in my face

hye, I have a problem wich was edited in your docs->config.html.

"Cube runs, but I can't shoot anything / rockets blow up in my face!
Cube uses OpenGL to find out what position in the 3d world the crosshair is pointing at. If you have old/buggy drivers, or drivers for a badly supported card, it may be that this feature is broken. Your only solution is to install better/newer drivers, or failing that, buy a new card."

My answer:
I have an ATI radeon 9200 with the latest drivers 3.12.0 on xfree4.3 used on mandrake10.
I don't thing that is old/buggy drivers or driver for a badly supported car, then can you give me a real solution for my problem.
Thanks and really great game, but i can't shoot :(

ATIs drivers are no good, and the OS driver coders are having trouble keeping up. I understand theres an 8xxx driver that will work with the 9200 that supports Cube.

Erff, I know that ATI drivers are not so good :( but to late, perhaps in the futur there will be better, i hope.
Just now i have ATI then:

I decompress the /cube_2004_06_06_linux_client_ATI_workaround.zip
and put the file linux_client in /cube/bin_unix.
ENJOY!! I can shoot ennemy.....BUT now i have a new prblem, after few minutes I have a BigCrash my screen disapear for a black screen and music continue play. Erff, I go to resolve this problem.
Perhaps I don't give the good screen size or the speed of internet connection is to low?!! I don't know

Never heard of such a crash. Definitely not the speed of internet connection - Cube handles that gracefully.

You mention screen size.

I remember when I tried the ATI proprietary drivers I had X server crashes whenever I tried to use a different resolution in a game than I was running in X. For UT2004 I had to edit by hand, the .ini file because the application wouldn't start with the default 800x600 setting. I'd be sitting at the console with egg on my face every time.

So in whatever script you use to start your cube client, try to specify -w1024 -h768 (whatever resolution you are running) and see if it helps.

This is how I start cube, by the way. I just make a script that changes into the top level cube directory and runs the binary from there.

#! /bin/sh
cd /home/grogan/cube
bin_unix/cube_client -w1280 -h1024
