I have created a version of Cube called CubeX. It's a version specifically for the Windows operating system. The best part about CubeX is the awsome anti-cheat system, it scans all critical cube run files to make sure thier the right size, and if thier not, the game won't launch. I need to know where I can host it for free! I can't send it through e-mail so an FTP server would probably be the best choice.

I can host ANY cube mods provided they are under 50MB. I can even make a subdomain on my site for it, and give it an (unofficial) homepage.
This offer is open to ANY cube mod worth distribution.
and....what DOES the 'X' in XP stand for anyways....or the 'X' in X-BOX?!?
I always hought that it stood for "vile eXcretion from the colloective rectum of M$" but I could be wrong ;)

Congratulations, you just alienated half the cube user base. Very few people are gonna use it if it doesnt run on Linux, OSX or, to an extent, BSD.

checking the size only? not a checksum?
about Cube *content* files, there are legitimate modifications too, and if it checks cube binaries only, that doesn't prevent mapfaking.
You've changed/encrypted the protocol, and provided servers with this new protocol?
If not, all it does is preventing cheat from people who installs the anti-cheat version... I doubt cheaters will.

Well, I that reminds me....doesn't the 'X' in directX stand for uniX, or linuX or X windows, or X11, or something like that (wink wink)
No seriously though, about windows...does it NOT run on Linux, or just not tested on Linux. Seriously, if you are making a game, make it linux compatible. Linux has FAR better sound and 3D ability, games work better in it. It would be a shame to make a windows-only mod on a cross-platform game.

Actualy, sounds in linux sucks, there's no EAX and OpenAL isnt that mature yet... I still use linux as my only OS, but you have to acknowledge its flaws.

surely if (compressed cube) + (cheat code) + (runtime decoder) < (normal cube); then the result could just be zero-padded and this method is broken?
Whats wrong with Aard's approach to stop cheating?

that's a hell of a statement. anyone else see it this way? if that actually reflects the sentiments of linux/OSX/BSD/etc. users, that's *their problem*.

what's the point of playing if you're going to cheat anyway? being in an unfair advantage gets boring- which explains why so many villians in movies explain their masterplans to the heros, and villians in video games choose to fight the hero 1-on-1.
so while i'm glad you've gone and made some effort to improve cube andrewmc, it's rather a futile gesture.

Debian.
A.T.O.M. : what you dont seem to realise, is that there are as many linux/osx/bsd users here as there are windows users... if not more.

drak, not only i do realise that, but as a whole i have more respect for non-windows users. still, i thought that statement was rather crude and i doubt it reflects the general opnion of the non-windows community.

The Cube community is small enough as it is, no need to split it in two.
