Especialy the multiplayer-games are great! You can fight with your friends throug all the Single-Player maps with an modern type of controlling!
Don´t be too worry about my Mistakes, English isn´t my best language, because I´m from Germany.

I have JDoom. It sometimes locks, when I start it, but that's not much of a problem. The gfx are brilliant! I've been chatting with Jakko, who wrote it. He's a really nice bloke!

Tried a few. I've found that I liked Doom Legacy the best. Better graphics than ZDoom, better multiplayer than JDoom. Kinda somewhere in the middle.

DOOM was the first 3D game I saw and kinda fell in love with it, when I got a better videocard I remember I almost felt the walls smoothly going around me - it was really cool. I got a PC with a 3D card only about an year or two ago, and it happened that JDOOM was one of the first things I tried. I had played 3D games on other PCs, but this was different. DOOM again, and looking better than ever :) I can't say a bad thing about it. Of course, later I began making new versions of my DOOM maps that are compatible with it and sent them to Jakko, asking to put them on the JDOOM site, which he did, and maybe they're still there. Doom2 is still the best singleplayer experience you can have to this day, and JDoom makes it look very pretty. Anyone who likes doom and is not picking up the best wads released on doomworld.com is seriously missing out.

I still prefer Legacy, but to each their own. Anyhow, I think the title of "best singleplayer experience to this day" isn't necessarily true, even if we relegate it away from those freaks who care about things like plot and levelling up and features like that - I'm a massive Doom 2 fan, and I can think of pure-action singleplayer games that I enjoyed more (I know I won't shut up about Abuse, but its still one of my all-time favourites for singleplayer action).

Still, all hyperbole aside, Doom2 is an excellent FPS game, and like Aard, I highly recommend it to any gamer who missed out. Dead Simple and Map24 (the one on the catwalks) are still on my lists of coolest maps for any game.

i like jHexen very much. with the model packs and the now possible screen resolutions and mouselook capabilities... hexen was one of the first 3D games i played when i got my first PC back in the nineties... (lol, after a long carreer with vc20, c64 and amiga2000...)
