I have never heard anything like this. Do you play with a recompiled client & server? on MacOSX by any chance? any other weird circumstances?

no ..
os: windows 2000
sys: amd athlon Xp 2000+; 512MB RAM; ATI Radeon 9000pro; DSL connection ... you see a normal system ...

hmm on my second pc (little bit older one) everything works perfect ... cannot belive it :)

#3: I have the same problem ...

by Anonymouse man on 12/17/2004 05:47

I have a P2 2.4 ghz with a nVidia Ge Force 4 ti4200 (128mb ddr) (modules installed) and 256 mbs of ram and I run cube on FreeBSD 5.3 B7...
When I change maps,cube crashes
and gives an error like this :

Fatal signal: Segmentation Fault (SDL Parachute Deployed)

Please think of something fast, because I can't wait to play other maps and enjoy this AWESOME game.

[I could say this is best game I've ever seen for *nix OSes,best regards goes out to the developers :)]

Heh,I found out where the problem was...
Do NOT run it from a terminal, just run it on it's own (For example,if you're using GNOME,go to Actions menu and select Run Application), and you'll be fine.

#5: One more note...

by Anonymous man on 12/17/2004 07:05

Folks,I'm back again , because I AGAIN experienced crashes...
This time,I was able to fix it by loading a map once within the game, with the /map console command.
After that I could load any map from the menu without cube crashing.

I don't know if this is a Cube error since I have made severe modifications to the code (based on 2003 release), but it crashes under certain circumstances during copy-paste operations and newmap command. However, these circumstances are very, very fixed and the crash described can be avoided without much effort. But if it has something to do with the current problem, I remember once debugging (something I can not do btw) and saw some kind of buffer, you know, things like that, just to give a direction. Well you certainly could do without that post :)
