Cube & Cube 2 FORUM

Getting more people to play?

by Operative on 03/11/2002 02:37, 9 messages, last message: 03/17/2002 20:37, 947 views, last view: 04/23/2024 00:05

I just discovered Cube and it looks great, but when I logged onto a server, there was no one there. I was wandering if you guys have considered listing your game in one of the multiplayer games listings such as mpogd.com?

That is a problem. I've thought about how you would solve that, and short of canvasing the internet community for players, maybe some sort of a league would be a good idea. Like for example if we all agreed that Thursdays at 9est was a good time for everyone to get on.

#2: What about XQF/qstat?

by nilfilter on 03/12/2002 05:33

IIRC, qstat is available for Win and Lin but I'm not sure about xqf. Wouldn't be too bad for a start I guess... dunno what it takes to get supported by them though. I reckon many ppl would raise their heads if it was supported.

#4: Interested in "Online Schedule" forum?

by nilfilter on 03/14/2002 18:12

...which could be used to announce self-hosted games, or as a meeting place for playing on regular servers.

I'm sure you can easily add it to this site. If for some reasons this is not possible, let me know. My new site is still under heavy construction (and will remain in that state for at least 4 weeks...), but I've got the forums up and running (PHP-Nuke).
Cheers

That's very easy to add - a new permanent thread maybe. But it's Aard's call, he decides =)

#6: Just make a thread for now..

by Aardappel on 03/15/2002 17:32

And just announce when you will play, what times in GMT, CET, EST etc. a time like 7-11 CET is good, because it means both europeans and americans can play (in the weekend).

#7: just pick a time

by pushplay on 03/16/2002 01:35

If someone picks a server and a decent weekly time, I\'ll show up if at all possible. Something like late midday Sat is good.

#8: "Online Schedule" ready

by nilfilter on 03/16/2002 21:28

it's in the Forum section of
http://www.yalgs.net/index.php

I have made it free-for-all so you can check it out w/o any hassle. At a later time, user registration will be required.

It is not (yet) solely meant for Cube. If there is enough interest, I can certainly add a Cube-specific schedule thread.

Remember this site is under heavy construction. I have some good plans for it, unfortunately my proficiency in PHP/MySQL is somewhat limited so it'll take me some time to bring it into shape.

Cheers,
nilfilter

I suppose you will get more attention if you just create a new thread on this forum.
