I just bought an new soundcard(creative audigy 2 nx) and now I have a very high delay with the sound, if I shoot I yust hear the sound about 3seconds later, with my old soundcard(soundblaster Live! 1024) it was fine... I am using Mandrakelinux 10.0 download edition and the alsa driver, I don't know the exact alsa-version, but I think its alsa 1.0.x

this delay is very likely to come from one of those sound-daemons

I don't have any sound daemons running when I play cube... but I just tried the oss drivers, they seem to work correctly.. seems to be an alsa-secific problem

The latest available ALSA version is 1.0.3... that's probably what's on your mandrake 10, but if not maybe you should check their(ALSA) changelogs to see if they fixed some glitches for the Audigy, or post this into an alsa-related forum. If you can go with OSS and don't need ALSA, then it's probably simpler like this...
If you need ALSA, eventually you can make a script to load/unload modules to switch between ALSA and OSS while waiting some future ALSA release. Anyone already tried this?

hmm, for the moment I'll just use oss when playing games. My alsa-version is 1.0.3. It's not the best solution, but I can play cube with sound :-)
thanks a lot for your answers.
