Compiling

by C_olin on 03/11/2004 00:47, 101 messages, last message: 04/04/2006 20:25, 57210 views, last view: 05/18/2024 22:44

I'm no noob to VC++ 6.0... but I have not gotten Cube to compile correctly!

I put all of the includes and libs where they are supposed to be in the vc++ folder.

And added the right linking stuff... but I still get unresolved externals.

And why doesn't it include a VC++ workspace?

Does anyone have project/workspace project files they are wiling to send to me?

This would help out me, and a lot of other poeple... thanks!

Hi C_olin

I've sent you a MSVC 6.0 project file for cube and an explanation of any changes I made.

Hope that helps!

I can answer this :-), Cube is not Microsoft lover, that is why it doesn't have that file :P

Cube is microsoft neutral, it doesn't have a file for VC6, but have one for VC7 because Aard probably uses VC7.

And Aard probably has more interesting and useful things to do than making multiple different proprietary files for each incompatible version of MS-apps.

But hopefully there are files for VC5/6 contributed by users (i made the VC5 file some time ago because i don't have VC7) -unfortunately i managed to compile 2002_10_20 but not 2003_12_23 with it-

Get VC7 =)

Seriously enough, now that I've got my Windows up and running, together with VS2003, I can try to make a mingw-friendly version of the new Cube akin to an old one. Just give me time =)

Maybe you could look into compiling sdl without its stupid stdout automatic redirection. The console still shows up so it's useless.

Heh =) I have never noticed it since I always run Cube from command-line, even in Windows.

Done: mingw-friendly version of cube_2003_12_23, and no output redirection. Now I only need a place on the Net to put it in. Anyone?

Heh... I don't think Aard wants warez on this forum, but anyway, Visual Studio is _very_ hard to find, trust me =) Maybe on IRC or the Overnet somewhere...

I ended up getting mine legally from the university =)

It doesn't have a workspace because it's not for VC6, it's for VC7; and the latter uses "solutions" instead.

Anyway, if you don't mind downloading MinGW (http://mingw.org) - for free! - you can use it to compile the code. Just use the link pushplay gave.

Thank you.

By the way, this version has more tweaks than the old one. Cosmetic only, to remove all the warnings GCC was spewing about it. Now, if you get a warning when compiling, you can be sure it's your code.
