Hello, have is a goodone, the engine cube 2 sauerbraten, can it be stolen? Can it Corporation take source code, which does not give any credit to the community, build on top of this source code, and distributes without even mentioning that the game was developed on the engine?
How does the Copyright for the Sauerbraten source code?
I'm trying to understand because it AssaultCube cube became AssaultCube reloaded too, there are many questions...

The license of the source code requires proper attribution (copyrights must be displayed) and the origin of it may not be misrepresented.

The licenses of the content is generally far more strict that even that, with a large portion of it being strictly for non-commercial use, and as such any attempt to resell it would violate the author's wishes.

Some of the content is also implicitly licensed with the understanding the author only intended it to be distributed with Sauerbraten as a whole and not outside of the game, and so reusing it without their permission would also be unethical.

As with any open source project, the problem is how do you enforce any of this? None of us can afford lawyers. In the end, criminals will be criminals and do whatever they want.

It's an honor system, so we ask that you abide by the licenses because the open-source community exists to help make the world a better place. So crapping on the goodwill of that community by not abiding by the author's wishes is just not a nice thing to do.
