When I want to start the game I have that message: Fatal signal: Floating Point Exception (SDL Parachute Deployed)
why ?
I'm running Debian SID, kernel 2.4.23 and Geforce 2Ti with Nvidia driver ... the game works good in Windows ...

In fact it appears when there is a program already using the sound card.
Probably you've got some kind of sound daemon running, to test it you can try:
killall esd ; killall artsd
Also, if you're using xmms or other player, you've got to use 'stop' and not 'pause' only.

I don't see how I can help with your broken linux sound drivers... its not something I can fix from the cube side, nor something I can even look at (I don't run linux).

could it be because neither of you have audio devices?

sinaen: having an audio card listed in lspci does not mean, that the kernel has a driver loaded. you have to get alsamixer and aplay working first.

but i can play music/audio without any messages about it getting wrong,
so it says that i must have that installed, it's an really good idea to compose a list, with programs/packages you need to play cube on linux.. it would be really helpful..

as you're on kernel 2.6 try running "SDL_AUDIODRIVER=alsa ./cube_unix" from command prompt.

i've already tried to launch Cube on a system without a sound card and it worked, i think it's only if the device is blocked.

SDL folks will fix this one day or another.
eventually is there a way to tatally disable sound in Cube only to test if this problem is always/often/sometimes because of sound?

In case someone uses KDE on FC2/3, here\'s the solution:
killall artsd; SDL_AUDIODRIVER=alsa ./cube_unix
