Tricking, parkour, freerunning.

Alright. I'm suprised I havn't seen anything related to tricking, parkour or freerunning in my whole week in sauerbraten. I do enjoy playing Instagib/CTF but it gets old when there's nothing fun to fill the gaps of being bored after insta.

So, I was wondering if there are any maps or server that support tricking and keeps a good flow, hopefully in some sort of course that you have to go as fast as possible. If there aren't, any idea how we could manage to get that into the game?

And if you\'re wondering, yes I know about red eclipse. But I want speed, trickjumping and the use of weapons etc. Not wallrunning and stuff. :)

There are plenty of them that pop up on coop edit servers. Or just make your own.

Also go to quadropolis.us and look, I have seen several maps in the style you want posted there. You will have to search, they definitely won't be starred content.

#5: trickjumping

As being said in the general thread (don't post things twice please, it causes confusion), Brian(German) made several race maps, but he never seemed to understand the essence of trickjumping.

As trickjumping is more or less a "hidden" skill (because most players play insta-based games or regen-capture), it's not often used in regular play which results in most people don't even came up with the idea to use the recoil in their advantage (except for the rifle in instactf, mostly).

As far as I know, there are officially only 3 trickjump maps which are open to download for the public. These are the "tricky", the Cube Engine 1 map, "weapontraining", an old yet pretty fun Sauerbraten map (all trickjumps should still be working on that even it's old) and the latest trickjump-map called "sauerpower" (which I've actually made).
The only problem with all of those maps is that they are still meant for learning trickjumping, not really racing (except "weapontraining", which has some sort of parkour).
I've been busy to create an improved version of Sauerpower to make people learn the basics of trickjumping (a bit like QuakeLive's trickjump tutorial maps) and always have been planning to make a real race map for trickjumping, but it never came out.
Maybe someday, I'll finish that new trickjump tutorial map and people might enjoy learning so.

The links of all those trickjumps map are right under this line.
Tricky Pit: http://quadropolis.us/node/51 (included in the official release of Cube Engine 1, does NOT run on Sauerbraten)
Weapontraining: http://quadropolis.us/node/1198
Sauerpower: http://www.quadropolis.us/node/2566

P.S.
Quadropolis offers also parkour maps, but they aren't containing any proper trickjumping at all.

Almost forgot to tell,

The demos of the map "weapontraining" require the assassin-edition of Sauerbraten (you could still get that edition at sourceforge.net in the link I'll provide in this comment).

The demos of the map "Sauerpower" require the trooper edition (also still available n sourceforge.net).

Ace made this video a few years ago:

It inspired me to find almost every single trick in sauerbraten :P

So I made one:

If you play "Red Eclipse" then you can run on walls and do 'parkour' moves...
