Usually they can. Sometimes it happens that one or all players become immortal and even can swim in lava and such, but that is just a glitch.

They are also dead and anything they do has no effect at all until they are rid of the glitch. But whatever.

Yes, that's i think sometimes irritates players, who edit map, and trying to test what they done..
