Request for new maps!!!

Okay, many of you are probably wondering: why has there been such a delay in the next edition of Sauer?

Quite simply, there are not enough new maps yet to justify a release. So, that is where I need people to step up and help make the next release possible:

MOAR MAPS, PLZ!

CTF or capture maps preferred, but tight and fun DM or 1v1 maps are also appreciated too. So long as the maps are of normal release quality.

Please don't turn this into a thread of feature requests or criticisms about map quality standards or whatever.

Let's just make some more cool maps happen so we can get a new Sauerbraten edition out the door some time this year! Thanks!

I agree, good maps are necessary.

To Eihrul: Just make 1 way teleport on Tartech and you will have one more good 1on1 map. (Tartech was one of most popular map in the Cube1. You destroyed this map by adding 2nd teleport, now the gameplay on this map = teleport abuse)

You are mistaken. The Cube 1 version had 2 teleports. Sorry to disappoint you.

Sorry, you are right, I mis-changed it with Metl3 where teleport was added.

Anyway, just 1 teleport should stop teleport abuse on Tartech and it will make map more playable.

Maybe you also want to have a look on some maps posted on quadropolis in the last months. There is some awesome work out there that hasn't been considered yet for the next release, but maybe will be after another retrospective look.

Yes, a new campaign would be awesome. Sadly they are even harder to make than maps for any other game mode. Usually they are larger than maps for matches and you also need several scripts for all the triggers and so on.

The map making part is or can be covered on quadropolis! There's some maps there that are just ideal for single player mode that are in need of monsters, scripts, etc!

I wouldn't worry about (correct Me if I'm wrong) if a creator isn't around for permission to add such modification to a identical map posted twice! As so long as the scripter is formal about who gets credit for what!

I think most of those didn't make the cut because they had too many wtr's or needed a lot of extra space because of model, texture, and skybox usages.

I have about 20 maps ready to publish. I mapped with UT/2/3 engine for years, moved to sauer 3 or 4 years ago. I guess it's time to see what everyone think of my maps. I will try to get some up this weekend. All my maps are setup for CTF/Capture/FFA and have waypoints. Sorry no custom testures just yet. Cheers, Mr. Blister (Q-Tip).

Might have been a bad idea waiting all this time, cause if there's a lot of stuff to be improved in those maps of yours, it's gonna take a while to finish.

The bright side is there is no rush, per se, because there's still a lot of work to do before any release can happen and my time is limited lately.

But yes, if you have maps that require revisions, it still might be best to get them under way so you have time to address them properly as well.

Well, I hope Eihrul is working right now step by step on my ideas from "The next update" thread :-) ...joke, but I hope he will make some of them like: teammates on radar etc which seems useful

It's in it's final stages. I just need somebody to give me some suggestions for weapon placement.

There may be a small number of visual tweaks I have to do yet, but that's about it.

Should be done in a two to three days.
