a new model for pickups

by suicizer01 on 05/24/2011 15:29, 8 messages, last message: 05/27/2011 23:58, 1151 views, last view: 04/28/2024 11:43

I've been trying to create a new pickup and would like to know what kind of program is fast but above all, easy to use for creating the skin of a model.

Please do not recommend blender, because I really can't navigate in it.
Any other program is fine.

Here is a screenshot of the model I've been making (has been with with solidworks and used the dsi-textureset to texture it.)

Here are some screenshots of it.

Go ahead and put a (constructive) comment on here.

It's.. a pyramid! And a pretty plain one. I don't see what exactly i have to say here, apart than.. work on it more?

It's like an early-stage model. Needs some better textures, primarily. And perhaps some explanation as to why the model is a pyramid, i still don't get that one.

Razgriz, have you seen the model the game uses recently... it's ...a square..

wolfric, have you seen the model the game uses? It's a nice looking box, with actual textures! Simple, yet effective!

Now try to appear less of a smartass, i'm not yet another newbie who has no idea what he's talking about. The model is just in a primitive state for me to give any actual feedback yet.

If you've had fully read whole thread you would see that he was actually asking for some skin-making help.
And I like the pyramid look!

Oh snap, i totally missed that part about the skin. My bad, sorry.

Truth is, i believe the pyramid is a good start. Unconventional. Should he find/make a good texture to use, i think it will look good enough to be up to standards.

Are you referring to the actual "painting" of the skins(in which case I use GIMP), or the UV Mapping(in which case I use either Wings 3D or 3DS Max, depending on complexity of model.)??
