Hi guys,
It's me again with yet another question :D I just wanted to check if it is actually possible to come up with a skybox from 6 images. As I am a graphic designer my strenghth is definately in creating photoshop imagery, however I am very unpracticed when it comes down to such things as terragen etc...
Hence my question, is there a tool that allows you to crossfade 6 images into a skybox? (I remember a while back there were tools to create 360° views blending like 8 images you took turning yourself 360° with your digicam :P )
If anyone knows I'd be so very happy as I am currently very unsatisfied with my selfmade cube-looking skyboxes hehe
(PS yes I did google first, didn't find what I was looking for tho :S )
Cheerio,
K1

here is a list of some of the simplest programs to use for skyboxes: terragen classic (don't go for 2 unless your looking for hell), PhotoShop, and GIMP. however i recommend terragen classic.

I use Bryce to create my skyboxes with a tricky-to-setup-camera and 6 frames. It seems you want to stitch actual photos together and the program you are thinking of is probably Panotools.
FOSS:
Panotools: (GUI front-end for Panotools)
http://panotools.sourceforge.net/
Skybox utility: ( never tried this but looks useful )
http://loewald.com/waterboy/
Not Free but Useful:
Cubic Converter ( I like this one but haven't shelled out the $50 yet. )

@Razgriz: Had Windows running on bootcamp, crashed my system, never again since ;)
@Sub-Zero: Oh so that's the deal with Terragen! I did actually download Terragen2 and I have to say I agree with the "complicated" part... I felt pretty stupid not even getting simple beginners tutorials right hehe
@Mayhem: Thanks a ton for your links! I'll definately have a look at them and throw some feedback when I had a look :D

Thank you Mayhem! Cubic Converter actually works pretty smooth :D
Here's my first result, a blue space skybox! It's still work in progress and I'll most probably upload it to Quad once it's complete :D
