What are the sort of things that the playerbase can expect from the next Sauerbraten update? Gamemodes, user interfaces, or graphical updates?

There will be new Sauer release soon as we know...and there are still missing (in my opinion) important things which should be done by default (!!!BY DEFAULT!!!):

1) Server should hold the total score for modes like: instagib team, teamplay, effic team,... Actual condition: Players connects, switch teams, disconnects and team score changes on every event and it is not fair!! (Or...now at the end of game I can choose which team will win if i have a lot of frags and I just switch....stupid)

2) Visible teammates on the radar...will we finaly see the teamplay? (Answer: Ask eihrul if he is going to implement this)

3) Reduce face to face spawn places on maps like: capture night, face-capture and more

4) Reduce chaingun efficiency (bigger spread or less damage)....this weapon mostly destroy EFF in using just one weapon all the time, or rename this mode to "cgEFF"? Weapons should be more balanced.

5) /pausegame command available for the master of server, not just for the admin of server.

Less important but also things which should not miss:

6) Visible frags and flags on the scoreboard for CTF modes (Or in the best would be new column called "score" which includes some amount of points for: return flag, score flag, pick flag, frag, steal flag,...)

7) A-Z sorted maps....Eihrul!! its horrible to remember places especially when you add the new maps which mix the placings...

8) Server browser mode filter...I would be much easier to find for example eCTF server between milions of the iCTF servers.

9) Master of server via auth can be stolen by another boy with auth....is there any reason of this?

10) The kick command should include these parameters: /kick cn hours "reason"


To Eihrul:
I know that things like "use premultiplied-alpha for grass textures to avoid darkening around grass outlines" are important for you, BUT most of active players would be more happy for improvements which changes real gameplay or improve comfortability of the game...just look above..

3. +1, I hate capture night because you always spawn right under the damned crosshair of your opponent

4. Sorta, but rockets are way worse. Rockets give a shit at maths and simply instant kill you

5. Yay, let's give noob masters even more ways to abuse their status, woot woot!

6. Why? It's "capture the flag" and not "camp the enemy". With that scoring system you could win an entire match without making a flag run when you camp effectively enough. That's not the point of CTF

7. I guess that even could be coded in a few lines with cubescript

8. I heard they are already planning to improve the server list

9. I can't tell, I don't have auth. Instead do fucktards who use it to newmap on random servers for no reason got one

10. Instead I recommended to split /kick into /kick (which really only KICKS = disconnects people) and /ban (which is like the current kick). Also, /ban should be invisible in the default master GUI. When you are so far that you actually NEED /ban you know about quadropolis and/or how to add it to the master GUI on your own.

How about hit maps using something like quake4's 'Materialtype' for differing effects ( sound and particles ) on hits to geometry or mapmodels.

As the auth-setting on servers is default, it won't be that much of a problem to make the pause-command also for masters available.

Keeping kick and ban together probably has been done with a purpose. If a certain /ban command would be available for masters, it would definitely be abused.

As I said, in my idea /ban would be the same as the current /kick, so where is the problem? If you abuse /kick or /ban isn't much of a difference.
I think it even might reduce the abuse a bit when you don't put it into the default master GUI.

What profit in separated kick/ban? After kick you can easily reconnect and when you start to annoy master with your reconnects you finally get your ban. So no need to create useless commands.

Just for the record (well aware that nobody will care, unfortunatelly):
I completely agree with Honzik. The few gameplay tweaks he mentioned can easily be included by default in the next version and would be of way more benefit for all active players than difficult under-the-hood improvements for the engine.
