If you had been a Quake player, then you'd know exactly how to find your opponent, determine where his next move is, and use precise movement to obtain the best possible angle to fire upon that one spot. If you want to frag well on Cube2, you should try Quake 2. Freeware game w/ all the love and fixins ;p

The Railz Mod for quake 2 is almost exactly like instagib Rifles on Cube2. Except Quake 2 takes way more skill, by far. I have been a Quake 2 player for over 9 years and I have only played Cube2 for a week. Only took a couple days to get in a clan under another name, [MARVEL]Cable. ;)

Your absolutly right quake asks more skill than sauerbraten ever will do (if it continue it's gameplay like currently).

So, another reason why there is no best sauerbraten player: The gameplay is just that simple that it doesn't requires that much skill, only a bit of practice.

It seems that something like this is very subjective. Perhaps in order to quantify such a quality as "best" it would be necessary to create some sort of "obstacle course" map in which several contenders try to run through it as quickly as possible.

It would include shooting and running maneuvers, perhaps with players shooting at targets while someone in observer mode keeps score. I could develop such a map if there is enough interest.

Just a thought.

There already are some trickjumpmaps, for example...

precisely my point. Trickjumping alone won\'t cut it, though. some way to test shooting is needed.
