Has there been any work on a procedural/randomized map maker? I'm thinking something akin to the way Scorched3d does its stuff.
Also, are there any tools, like set a value and click to create a triangulated hill, or like, a thumbnail menu where you can put arrangements of blocks (like a house or a doorway), then select and place it anywhere as part of the grid. (like a model)?
P.S. I have the source for Sauer and Scorched, but the source code is so undocumented and confusing (also I'm not a programmer.)

There is no built in support for the SketchUp style components you describe.

Re "prefabs":
You can already fake this behavior by copy-pasting across maps.
If you want to implement it for real, it shouldn't be that hard. Look to copy-pasting: all you need to do is serialize the copy buffer into a format that can be put in a CFG (and, of course, unserialize it for pasting).
