"Sauerbraten" is a great engine! It is perfect for that what i want to do.
I plan to make a game with dungeons and some "other elements". I already played with the built-in editor. With "other elements" i mean to to draw own stuffs (3d objects and interaction) on the top or inside the built-in geometry. I know that for this i have to modify and extend the source codes. I am looking for tutorials, examples, etc. which deal with modifying or extending the source code for other types of games (like mine).
Any help, directions, etc. welcome!
thx
Terek

thx, i already browsed all the docs.
What i am looking for is more special (modifying code, recognizing code segments: game loop, etc.).
So obviously only someone can help me who went this way, since the official docs concentrate on gameplay, editing.

either u are a coder than this is no problem for u, or u are not, than no tutorial in the world can help you with this. (and thats the reason why no such tutorial exists)

Thx for the info.
I started to debug through the code.
Also comparing fps with rpg coming with the source. I guess, for that i want to do, i have to get more familar with opengl.

to abs1nth : even for a coder the task may be hard. A game engine is not a simple program.

For examples, just read the code...

Thx so far.
Yes, i read the code and debugged through it.
I still have some questions:
I plan to use Sauerbraten for a dungeon master-clone. For building level sauerbraten is perfect so far. I would like to know how involved it would be to implement features like doors, shelves in the walls (including objects) and switch embedded in the walls.
