Crush Development

Once again. I try to put this now in a more serious way.

We: MisanthropX and Xemrox as Lead developers, search for serious developers which are interested in a more tactical game than sauerbraten is.

Sourceforge: https://sourceforge.net/projects/crush/

For Your Information:
Our Project includes many new Aspects which make both, editing and fighting more comfortable and exciting.

Main Goals

1. Network system

Sauerbraten has a great Network,
but there are no ways to extend it and add commands,
you would need to use a mod to host a server.

in Crush we are more flexible,
and you can add your own command
with a bit of knowledge about cubescript.

We also give the possibility to watch and control your Server
via Console, IRC, Remote Control, and more.

2. Guide

In Sauerbraten you have 1 thing in the beginning.
A panel which lists some points.
one of them is Multiplayer:
if you find out how to connect to a server and beg there for help.

in Crush there this is way different.
You will be guided through user friendly trainings and tutorials.
you learn what the master system is, editing, fighting.. etc

3. Menus

With Cubescript, it's able to do wonderful menus, even if its limited.
We try to break the limits and give more oppurtunities in GUI creating.
Also enhance the default Menus with more options and give a unique look.

Example: http://img205.imageshack.us/img205/600/49084597.png

4. Tactical Team Game Modes

We give many opportunities for every type of player
(camper, spion/assasine, runner, damagedealer, newbies, pros, etc)
in Gameplay aswell in Maps.

We search for capable C++ Coders,
level designers and model artists.

If you are interested and think you would be a good addition to our team
please reply or write us an Email - MisanthropX@msn.com
Or leave a Post on Sourceforge http://sourceforge.net/projects/crush/

Thanks
- MisanthropX

#1: This is how far we are

by MisanthropX- on 06/24/2010 01:00

This is how far we are:

We build on the current Sauerbraten SVN Code.

We already created a main structure especially for the network.

And implemented some smaller Features like Hud, Quad effects, comfortable entity editing.

We consist of about 10 members so far.
The majority performs level design

we are open source, of course, we are just putting our code together with the actual sauer svn code.

At least Xemrox is doing that.

On Weekend SRC will be back

I mean, crap. Why don't you just focus on some more basic stuff? I'll admit, your team is impressive. But—priorities!

Just the opinion of a humble guy.

I dunno, Red Eclipse already does 90% of it, which only took about three years to do.

Testing, one, two, three, four -- pass sarcasm detector over Quin -- yup, went off. Good old sarcasm director.

I can't imagine how game will look like. I'm not even sure that there will be the first release.

Perhaps, in part, it was sarcasm. I was also trying to demonstrate that anything is possible if you have enough patience and dedication to your project, like I do :)

#13: Nice! + I make music

by Titan on 08/04/2010 01:26

Hey guys

haven't seen y'all for some time in sauer ... so that's what you were doing! ^^

I pulled the latest svn version, but it won't compile (I'm on Linux). But I started the .exe file (with "wine" - in case you know what that is xD) and it looks promising (though I can't connect to the "favorite servers" nor actually do anything). The soundtrack sounds good, too.

I'm always looking for opportunities and motivation to make Music and release it under a Creative Commons licence (which makes it free). Samples are at http://clandel.bplaced.net/ (they are quite different from each other - just compare "e3.mp3" with "i.mp3").

If you want me to make a track with a certain mood/ambience/style... (say, fast metal for action, or techno-like calm music ...) and you'll consider including it in your project, just let me know. I registered in your forum, so you can contact me from there. I'll also have a look at this page from time to time.

Keep it up
Regards,
"Titan"

It doesn't compile just because i'm currently recoding weapons and items.
Crush isn't even 20% done ^^
Anyway thank you for your proposition.
Our in-game sound wont be "soundtrack based" but atmosphere will be created just by game sounds.

Thanks

OK, I understand that - I'll be looking for something else. Of course you can ask me at any later time, I'd probably be glad to contribute.
