Hello,
I made a recent post, but am not sure where it showed up so I will re-post my question.
does someone know when we might get to test the new release of CUBE?
I hope that it comes soon so that I can start to build my project off of the newest release-candidate.
Thanks,
Lonnie

It would be nice to know JUST before a new one comes in order to stop finishing things for a few days. Otherwise, presume the latest is what it is.

Searching on the forum before posting such things would be cool. Maybe the search option should be LARGER on the page, many newscomers seem not seeing it ;)
So for anyone coming here and wanting to see the light,
current release:
Cube_2002_10_20, Cube_2002_10_28 for Linux users
the next release date is:
WHEN IT'S DONE.
As everybody here, i'm waiting with impatience for the next version of my favourite game, but please don't ask something like release date to a free software developer, it's VERY annoying. He may make some announcement if he wants.

I will never make any promises, as they are always broken, its that simple.
That said, I hope to do some betas soon for a small audience (#cube)

Hello,
I was not trying to be pushy on the question, it was just being new to CUBE and also seing the long TODO list in the sources prompted me to ask the question.
Its a great engine and I am excited to see what will come out in the next version.
A suggestion might be and "Announcements" thread specifically for release information and projections.
You might even consider setting up a CVS spot so that all of the users can simply downlooad the latest "development" builds as the work progresses and maybe are even able to contribute.
I know that I would do what I can to contribute after I get a feel for the code if this was an option.
Anyway, these are just my opinions and someone will probably flame them based upon what I have seen so far.
Well, keep up the good work....
Cheers,
Lonnie

The CVS would be a good idea, but Cube is a one-man project, there are many contributions, but only for contents, the code remains 100% Aard's code.
There are some source modifications, but they are branched from original Cube (like many mods, my modbase, or some ppl improvements/additions)

There is no point in an announcement thread, you will mostly see new features when they are done, not before.
I absolutely hate the 10 million internet projects that spend more time talking about what they intend to do than what they have done (and subsequently fail to do any of it).
no development builds either. You only get stable, tested software from me. I have no use for CVS.

Besides, using CVS for a one-man project sounds like an overkill... too inconvenient to setup and use, just so that a few geeks (like me =)) could update to a night build every day... ain't worth it.

pushplay, I think it's very childish and unethical of you to be like that, but w/e. Skirmishing like this is what 2 year olds do, now if u hate this dood, either find out where he lives, and knock the jeebies outa him, or hack him. Either way bringing it to the forums(which is not yours) is very rude.
Aardappel, Me and a friend of mine did alot of modding in Tribes1, we wanna do the same for this game..., create some WICKED mods... and such, but my friend made an interesting statement, what about the animations, like in Tribes:Vengeance the Ragdoll Animation, do you haea a tool for that, or do I need to get one?

LethZoid, I think you might need to understand a bit more about how this forum works before you make (poor) rush conclusions like this.
As far as animation, a lot can be achieved by looking through the cube directories and source.. It basically uses the quake2 model format with jpg textures. Looking into how to model and animate for quake2 would be a very good start.
