Is it possible to put CUBE 2 on a USB stick so I can play it at work? as I dont want it installed on my work PC.

Install the game on your home PC. Then copy paste the /sauerbraten direcory onto your thumb drive. You may have to make one or two tweaks when you play on the work machine, but it should work seamlessly.

You cannot just copy the exe, you need the resources that are not compiled into the exe too.

You could just install directly to the Flash drive.

You probably weren't concerned about this, but Flash sectors have a limited lifespan, so a lot of portable apps are modified to avoid file I/O to the Flash drive. Cube 2 does not do a whole lot of writing (mostly just writing out config.cfg on exit), and only relevant reading is done when loading the game or a map.

Prepending -q%APPDATA%\Sauerbaten to the batch file could fix that though (or some other location, that one just seemed sane).

True, but then you're putting files on the computer, which is what he wanted to avoid. ;)

The work computer could be too pathetic to handle Sauerbraten, but if it isn't, just copy the folder over. It will take ages though, Sauerbraten is biiiiig.

I personally enjoyed playing Cube at school thoroughly until they blocked .exe files opening.

ive been running cube off my stick drive for 2 years, never had a problem. ive not see much increes in lag, i get about 120s to 150, but i pretty sure the lag is not because of running it off the usb, but i could be wrong, but ya it works fine.

you can just install it directly on the usb or copy it over, does not matter it work just as well either way.

Similar thing at my school, but that was because people used vulgar names, and Sauer was merely restricted to one room. but some of my friends saved it to their flash drives, allowing me to play despite the fact that I don't have internet at my home. (btw: could someone release the Trooper Edition on a disc or flash drive, or anything physical.)
