friends and/or fellow gamers

by ericlahti on 02/19/2010 22:22, 12 messages, last message: 04/07/2010 20:56, 1542 views, last view: 04/07/2024 17:21

last night I was playing and met some pretty chill people
killerkitten
hakx
what annoys me is that you can't add friends on cube 2
I want to game with these people again but It will be very hard to find them
so my question to everyone out there:
does anyone want this changed? any resolution to this?
no harsh comments like 'you can stop playing' or something like that

Answers: aside from you, no; no.

Adding friends is impossible because names are just that, names. There are no accounts, nor any way to track them. You would have to contact them outside the game and decide on a time and server for a match.

Latily I have been seeing a lot of people who are name stealers. However what bothers me the most is people do it to make you look bad, I can skip on the frinds list. But i'd like to have a way to keep people from stealing my name (though I don't worry about that too much)so that I don't get kicked/banned from a server and the person who is master/admin of the server says its because I MF'ed or was insulting everyone.

Some other people and I were talking about the possibilty of having a password regersterd to our user names... Or our names locked with our IP's so when we log on, it can only be us and no one else (also taking away the problem of having to type your password for everything in MP)

However I would have been working on the mod for this sort of thing, I have just started learning C++ and am not able to make something that is that far in C++ as that yet...

I am not suggesting or ordering or anything as such for this, I am merly saying how much of a help it would be...

I will continue my study of C++ however no one should expect a mod like this from me in anytime for the next few years because I have a lot going on.

(P.S. Thanks to those of you who host the servers that you can regerster for!)

Whatever XFire is, it is for the Windows platform only. This doesn't help if you're trying to go open source with your game choices. I'd say a good portion of Cube 2 players are on *nix based operating systems.

Xfire runs on Linux with wine, or you can use the pidgin xfire plugin

Why not just use CSL ? ( check e.g. ogros.org for further information)

Good idea. Although I believe a \"moderator\" system should be included. In my school, Sauer is used to help teach the classes involving computer programming. Any way, it used to be available to the entire school, until some assholes started using names like \"DirtyJew\" and \"CrazyD1ck\". After only a few days of this, the Computer teacher restricted it to only his room. Thank goodness someone invented a USB drive big enough to accomodate multiple gigabytes.
