Hi Peeps,
Since quiet some time I've experimented round with blender now, and I've gotten quiet skilled at modelling.
However I guess modelling is the easy part, and I'm having major difficulties with the UV mapping and animating.
I've searched for plenty of tutorials online, but most of them are either waaay to simple (like UV mapping a box... wow... amazing... 6 sides...) or overdimensionally complicated (like for movie animations using blender etc...)
The thing I'm looking for is some tutorials that sorta meet half way. Showing how to correctly UV map. When I look at the models included in SB, the skins are always beautifully divided up into the different areas of the hudgun. However my attempts to UV map sorta look as if a bomb struck my model, randomly throwing my models faces to wherever the UV map finds some space with no order or system...
Once I'll get my UV mapping skill up i'll go for animations, but for now I'd just be really glad if someone could point me into the right direction by linking me some good sites or perhaps helping me over a skype session one day? I'd be more than willing to soak up all information you guys are willing to give me ;)
So long,
K1p57a

For better understanding, here's what it does with my shotgun model when UV mapped...

You probably need to set some seams.
They say to set seams along the same edges you'd cut with scissors if you were trying to flatten out a paper model.
To set a seam, select some edges, then Ctrl-E > Set seam. (You'll need to re-unwrap.)
Any islands that correspond to similar regions can be moved to overlap (especially if they're from the other side, i.e. a mirror image).
Also try some of these results: http://www.google.com/search?q=blender+unwrap+suzanne&safe=off
...but be aware that most Blender tutorials--regardless of topic--are usually out of date.

Thank you SheeEttin!
I will most definately have a look at this! Till now I just manually stuck the pieces together like a puzzle in the UV Mapping Menu, till all parts were stuck together so they'd fit again heh ;)
I'll write another message with some results once Im done re-mapping with these tipps ;)
