Blood Frontier "Beta 2" Out Now!

by Quin on 12/06/2009 10:34, 21 messages, last message: 12/29/2009 02:07, 3605 views, last view: 05/04/2024 20:03

After many months of development, and massive amounts of input from the public, we are proud to present you with the new release of Blood Frontier, v0.85 (Beta 2). This new version totally redefines and improves the game in many ways, creating a whole new style that makes it almost nothing like its predecessor.

We hope that you enjoy this new release, which contains more bug fixes, feature additions, and improvements, than I could ever list. The previous "Beta 1" package saw us gain a huge increase in contributors and players, which has in turn afforded us more resources to create a better polished Blood Frontier.

New improvements include:

+- Enhancements to the impulsing (double jump) system; sprint for more speed, run along walls, or kick off them.
+- Fun new secondary fire modes for all weapons; stick grenades to walls, or liquefy your enemies with a big blue ball of death.
+- New and improved maps from the community; enjoy a wider range of playing environments and settings.
+- Refined and increased HUD visibility; always know what's happening and what you're looking at.
+- More variables than ever; tailor gameplay to your tastes with more options than you could ever play with.
+- Story mode concept; take the precursor to coop campaigns out for a spin with bots or online.
+- Refinements and polish; gameplay flows easier, visual elements look better.

Special thanks go out to those who enjoyed the game enough to come and offer their help, you should all know that it is very much appreciated; without the advice and opinions you offer, Blood Frontier would not be nearly half as polished as it feels now. Be sure to pop by our chat and leave your own feedback!

Don't forget to spread the word, invite your friends, have fun, and maybe even donate a little to help us keep the project going. Without you we would not exist today.

Is it true that you can fly in B2? Or is that only in the SVN version?
== LeftClicker ==
7 plus 4 = (6^2 * 6^2) / (How much blood is in a Quake-III-mouse)
NOTE: This equation actually ends up with ~117.89 being the amount of blood in a QIII-mouse.

its plain awesome! but i don't like the fact that the only crosshair you have is the ammo stacked up in the center of the screen. i'd like to see a setting whether to apply a crosshair ingame or not. that would help. its also needed for coop-edit!

And it would also be nice to see a readme for the game :)
a commands list to be exact >.>

You can't fly with the default settings, but you can set 'forcegravity 0' for pseudo-flying :P

I didn't like the old release much, but I think the new one is awesome! :)

Great job, there's one thing though I don't like: Why are coopedit and story mode disabled by default if you're not admin? I think it's good to have an option to disable them, but blocking them as a default setting is a huge step back for me, and it doesn't even make sense: I can set default servers to locked or private without admin rights anyway.

Hopefully you'll think about it and aside from that congrats for the great release :)

I'm quite happy with this release myself, it's good to hear it getting a good public reception too :)

Edit/Story are both modes then when set drives away legitimate players (for different reasons; edit because its non-gameplay, story because it is incomplete/buggy), At this point in time we need to place a higher focus on people playing and getting to like the game rather than allowing all facets online.

We just need more players and/or servers really.

well done bloodfrontier team. gameplay has increased in fun and the new maps look great.

my only critique is the buttons are becoming complex for such a fast game.

by fispaul on 12/08/2009 15:45

Oh yeah, just wondering, is there still that epic "easter egg" type thing that when everyone die sin a bot match it says "haha, everyone died, fail!" ? :D

Play duel, and have everyone die. Epic fail.

eh, i noticed that just about everyone on this game abuses the shotgun because it is way better than every other weapon in many respects. Maybe you could lessen the damage that it deals in the next release. i dunno just a suggestion

Yeah, we're very aware of this already and are monitoring the situation; it's likely to change in future.
