by geartrooper2 on 12/05/2009 04:11, 48 messages, last message: 05/06/2012 05:48, 7993 views, last view: 05/16/2024 05:11

Have heart true believers! SP Campaign is under heavy development with stunning talent such as;

Marvin2k
Windecker
Kurtisk84
quin
myself, and others!

We are aiming to make this campaign memorable and fun! Expect no disclosures, though, as this campaign will be entirely secret until completion.

sorry, I can't give any details. You just have to wait for it to be released. :D

In my honest opinion the single player mode in Sauerbraten is not all that bad. It still has a lot of nice things multilayer does not have and a few things that need to be fine tuned to work. It's great seeing some people contributing to single player mode since it's been abandon for quite some time now.

If any info is not being leaked how can we trust the validity of this thread, give us a picture or something. if seeing is not believing then I honestly don't know what is.

You want proof? Play Blood Frontier in story mode; there's your concept demo.

Is this project still being worked on (or maybe even done)? The last post was 47 days ago... I'll check Quad to make sure I'm not being an idiot.

Don't get impatient, remember how long it took for Trooper to come out?

I am really, really looking forward to this. I can wait, 'cos I know I'll have to, seeing how this was "30%" done almost half a year ago, but I'm all for it being delayed for being better :)

Lost was a revolutionary SP map in terks of Cube/Sauerbraten scripting/story, etc. with an actual story, missions, lifts, the controllable lift, and easter eggs. That took I think 9-11 months, if I remember correctly. This is taking about that time, maybe even longer, with a much bigger team of developers.

Nice textures, scripts, maybe models and animations, and maybe friendly bots if it really is like the "test" in BF B2!!

Even if it has nothing new, another campaign like Lost is something I'd look forward to, maybe even a sequel :P

Yeah... wait, no. I got CTF Edition about a month before Trooper came out. Looking on Sourceforge, I see 6 months. Previously, it was... hmm. 12 months. Weirdsyness. (Yes, I spelled that wrong on purpose.) Anyway, it probably felt longer because the download was about 100 MB larger, a much larger download (and therefore longer).

I regret to inform the community and especially those interested in this project that it has been discontinued due to an oversight of the project leader, me. It was my effort to provide sauerbraten with a capable sp project that would envigorate the community to develop more sp projects. Sauerbraten is not designed for this, its focus is on mp and a development engine. I failed to assertain that the hopeful addition to the sauerbraten engine is already an engine capable unto itself, namely, intensity. I had great fun working with the guys on the sp project;

Jake (Jacob Windecker)
Marvin2k (Odon Garcia)
Kripken (Alon Zakai)

and a few others, whose conduct and professionalism was of the highest degree.

Once again I apologize to those who waited for the completion of this project.

This is very sad. I feel that geartrooper was trying for something really amazing here, but technical - or really organizational - problems got in the way.

I hope that, in time, this project can still be done in some way. If the solution is to fix some of the organizational problems that we have in general with the Cube 2 family of games, then maybe we should finally do that.

No. We may figure out a way to solve the sp problem of sauer in the future.
