Building an arch [problem]

so I made an arch \/

It looks great from far away, but not close up \/

No problem- I'll try smoothing it out \/

Problem! How would you go about making this look smoother and not like tiny stairs?

I'm on the smallest cube scale, and the blocks heights' were changed by pushing the face in by eighths.

I built this using a circle formula. It is essentially the top of a very large perfect circle.

Nice arch bro! Is there a script for that or does it simply require lots of mind-numbing work?

Use bigger cubes.
When building big structures, use big cubes!

The map "senjou" has circular rooms, which you can use as a base for your circles.

A circular formula cut in hald will do for you... If you know how to make a 5 by 5 circul or a 3 by 3 circul, all you have to do is make really large grid size, and then make one. Or better yet, make one in the starting grid size, then copy it (C) and then make a larger grid size and then paste it (V).

However you will still have "points" the points are larger in a 3 by 3 circul, however in a 5 by 5 circul you have more points. You choose which you use. Or you can make a harder circul with more points so it looks smoother. However the odd number compaired to the even are a lot smoother.

Then all you have to do is cut the circul in half and there you go, and just as long as no one gets super close to the "points" it'll look so and so.

first off, sorry 'bout some of the bad grammer, my computer was lagging at the start of my message, and i have no idea what "cut in hald" means... secondly, here are some screenshots to show you what i meant:

3 by 3 whole (circul)http://tinypic.com/m/684hu0/1

3 by 3 half (arch) http://tinypic.com/m/684hlx/1

5 by 5 whole (circul)http://tinypic.com/m/684i15/1

5 by 5 half (arch)http://tinypic.com/m/684i8n/1

Adge, yup mind-numbing work

I'll try using bigger cubes,

and thanks |ice|sub-zero|L; that helped.

I wonder if I could create a giant arch in blender and load it as a model. Would that work?

It would, but it would have very limited use. Relatively few maps ship with models, because people generally don't like the cruft-i-ness of it. I would recommend using the sauer tools strongly, it's really not as bad as it sounds.

That, and you can only get box or vertical cylinder collision on mapmodels.

Unless you want to go with no collision, and use cubes inside the model for collision... But that doesn't work so well.
