New mapmodels for sauerbraten

Yes, i think sauerbraten should have new mapmodels since nowadays most of the mapmodels included in sauerbraten look very primitive. For instance the barrels, dont they look bad? The trees could be better as well.

If you already have the possibility for very high-quality mapmodels why are there no included in sauerbraten? The same applies to the Monsters, by the way.

Make them yourself. Don't forget, in order for the engine to continue running well, the polycount has to be as low as possible.

hmmmm, i think the reason is time... just think about how much time people have to put into the models. and right now, the community is focusing on more important things, like gameplay, and the engine itself

i know there are many free 3d models out in the internet. Do you know how to convert 3d models into a format sauerbraten understands? someone should programm a converter to convert 3d models to sauerbraten format.

They would look better just by adding a masks.jpg and normal maps. That's not too hard for you to do, is it?

only md3s and md5s for now
because md2s doesnt support bumpmapping

D: Doesn't it?! It supports masks.jpg... Oh well. I remember the GUI edition had good enough masks.jpg's for the HUD weapons to make them look bump mapped. :P
