choppy and slow

I have installed game 2 times and both times it is very choppy and super slow. It does open and play but there is quite a lag. Did I miss something? I have used it on other computers and it was fine?

Make sure you have recent graphics drivers installed.

also there are graphic options that may help, such as turning off the shaders and such, changing the graphics down as low as they can go can help...
