I checked out the SVN version, pretty cool. The sounds are definatly an improvement. I especially like that you added different effects for underwater.

I got a hall of mirrors effect whenever I got hit by an explosive, only way to resolve it was to restart Sauer.

A few sounds sounded a little nimble, the grenades explosion didn't really sound like an explosion to me. Also I tought the revolver was a little weak, tough when I tried it again later it sounded okay, so it might have been me not bieng accustomed to it yet.

Bullet hit sounds were awesome and added a lot to the imersion.
I'dd love to hear an optional footstep sound too, I miss that a bit in Sauer.

One thing I liked better in the original were the rockets, I'm not really won for the flare trail in the current version.

The minigun muzzle flash felt a little overpowering, I tought it was distracting. The other muzzle flashes were a big improvement tough.

The lightrays in the caslte map were a nice touch too, altough I think they were a little too strong.

The HUD is a mixed bag for me. I think it looks really good, but if does feel a bit too futuristic for Sauer I think.
Same with the type, altough I must say I think it's more legible then the default sauer one. Also think the loading bar felt more slick, I like it :)

I know it's an SVN version, and these are just my oppinions. Hope you'll keep up the good work.

but sauerbraten is a futuristic game so it fits perfectly :/

useless argument. the game has no theme and its just neutral, so don't try to stick a theme to it. Though i do have to agree that although the new HUD is nice, its a bit too futuristic compared to the rest of the game. maybe it needs a slicker, simpler idea.

I view Sauer as an accumulation of all kinds of themes, there's definatly scifi themes (maps, skins), but there's also plenty of fantasy and contemporary stuff in the game.

I don't think the Hud looks bad at all, but like Razgriz said above, perhaps something more simple, more universal is in order?

Actually it's just 20% smaller now.

And IMO Snout10K is very futuristic... So i think JUD fits the theme. Especially when there are even more sci-fi themed maps, especially Reissen.

ironsnout10k is not really sci-fi. Its like a normal snout in a full body suit of armor. If it were a mech, it wouldn't spill blood everywhere when shot, and wouldn't make grunt sounds :P

that said, even if it were a futuristic addon to the game, its no good reason to base your HUD on that and on a couple of maps that are kind of futuristic, like reissen as you said which is more like a heavily mechanical industrial map, no fancy stuff here and there to imply a certain date to imply future timeline. hope you know what i mean by the last, kudos to you :P

and if you would read description of snoutx10k you would understand that IT IS sci-fi themed

Imho HUD should be not "themed" it should be improved for easy understand you health, ammo, armour etc. You choose wrong way:)
