Sauerbraten with Prey (commercial game) Elements

by JoR on 06/20/2009 22:24, 8 messages, last message: 06/22/2009 21:53, 1695 views, last view: 04/27/2024 13:43

Hi,

I've played the game "Prey" and what I really loved was playing it in multiplayer with such confusing features like portals and changing gravitation. It's nearly as much fun as playing sauer, but it isn't free and the network doesn't work that good.

So I'm thinking:
What about creating a sauer mod with these Elements of Prey?

For the oney who don't know the game, here is a video:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uDDvrovKgeM
In the video, the portals are changing but that's just because it's about a kind of mod which is recorded.
The walking up the wall could be realised through the possibility to make it possible to set a face to "gravity adjusting" or something, so when you're standing on it, it will become horizontal.
Such Portals could be created by simply saying: "these faces are connected, what goes into face 1 comes out in face 2...

What do you think about it?

although that is a cool idea, does that mean the wall will now become the floor? or, would the screen stay the same or would it flip with you giving you a better advantage to see?

wow. Thanks for the Link, free gamer. This is amazing!
But I think these guys should know if they're writing a free, commercial or free of cost game...

sub-zero: When you walk up a wall, you should have the same player perspective so "up" and !down" will become relative.

Precisely, collision in the Cube Engine is not set up to allow rotation of bounding boxes on anything but the Yaw axis.
