SVN Questions

Hi all, I haven't posted here in a LONG time, and I had a few questions about Sauer's svn.
Keep in mind that I'm using a Mac.

1. Do you need an svn client in order to get svn? I'm asking this because I opened up the app Terminal and typed "svn co https://sauerbraten.svn.sourceforge.net/svnroot/sauerbraten sauerbraten" and it downloaded the svn successfully, but I'm not sure if it will work right.

2. Is there another way to compile the svn besides using xcode? I accidentally deleted xcode a while ago and I don't feel like reinstalling it just to compile the svn.

I look forward to trying out the svn and exploring all of the new features. Please answer the questions.

1 - svn from the terminal is fine (you don't need a cute gui)

2 - you don't have to use xcode (but you still need to have the mac developer tools installed). Instead you can use Makefiles like the linux folk - though they will likely require changes which you will have to work out for yourself.

Finially - you could just wait 1-2 days for the actual release.

Unless you're really limited on HDD space, just install Xcode again. It really is the simplest way to do this.

Note though, If you've installed Safari 4 Beta, make sure you download the new version of Xcode off of the Apple developer site. If you don't, and just install it off of your OSX DVD, Xcode will crash when you try and open it. Although, I'm not sure if this happens in Tiger, if thats what you're using, or anything before that for that matter.
