Hi all,
I have passed a lot of time doing this model for sauer, but for lack of time i believe that i,m not going to be able to finish it.
I look someone who want to finish it for sauer. She need animation on blender and export on md5. i think that the best will be someone who had the animation aldeady working add this model to it, taking advantage of previous animation. The usage of this model will depend also on the animator.
In my opinion she is not a great model, 5 under 10. but it has been a hard work.

If somebody want do it contact me please. i will need one or two days to finish it completely. thnks.
i have few imager for you.

Ok maybe I was a bit too adamant blindabuser. Apologies.

Osbios, I think we understand the difference between pressing a button and shooting a gun. But in alot of countries this model would be percieved as risque.

You mean like in countries where this is the etiquette?:

Come one, if you can tell the difference between a mouse button and a trigger you also have to see that this is just a bunch of polygons...

Otherwise there are many countries where owning a gun and shooting people is outlawed! So you have to remove the shooting way before the poly womens. C:

let's have a pac-man model - then the whole issue of sex/species/violence becomes diffused if not confused :P

Personally I'd probably spaz out on the forum if the character was human (girl or male solider) - get out of my face!

is she rigged and weight-painted up nice? are there any deformation issues with the mesh?

I don't think the whole "metallic sci-fi" ski boots fit with the look of the rest of the body. The two styles on one model clash in my opinion.

instead of pacman...
How about something along the lines of weird digimon monsters....
kids seem to like them and they fight, eh?

whats a worse image for a gamer to have?
1. <drool> "he he...mmmmmmmm boob physics...." <drool>
2. to play a game whose storyline is " You kill things...period" , yet for a curvaceous character to be on-screen?.. blasphemy!
3. "yay uber muscular pecs and testosterone! and ninja armor!... wanna see how big my gun is?"
4. "oh boy.. a new character!... I'm not sure I like this one though... maybe he'll make another one I will like better ... lets encourage him to do more."

maybe stickmen running around on graph paper landscapes and "pow pow.. bang!... kablooey!" sound effects would be best

@ geatrooper: no problem: we were expressing our own opinions in a civilized way. :)

Back to the model: I've just realized that all this bloody mess was born just because of a guilty nipple, so... since the original purpose of this thread was about marvin2k offering a new playermodel to the community, question is:

Would extending the t-shirt under her navel (with marvin2k's permission) solve the problem and perhaps give us a third choice (and a female model for women playing Sauerbraten, as Osbios pointed out)?

Life is simple, isn't it? :)

Well I was following this thread for a while and I think is time for me to take part on it.

I´m one of the few ladies playing this game and I think that my opinion could be of help here, just for my feminine condition at least.

Firstly, let´s talk about the model:
- The sci-fi boots don´t fit with the total look of the model as Captain_Ahab said.
- The face, well, actually looks pretty funny, you can not say whether is a girl or a something else.... I think that more polygons must be added to get a more asthetic look. Eventhough, I think your model looks great.
- If you are really concerned about "she" showing her boobs, well, a longer t-shirt would do the trick.

Secondly, let´s talk about the thread and what happened:
I do believe that this game and this comunity were about cooperation, sharing ideas and make them better, with constructive critisism.
And actually is not what had happened here. This was like when in Quadropolis someone vote a map or a mod with less than 4 stars without any comment or explanation. That don´t help to evolve the game. It just discourages people from participating, and then we ask for more maps.

I really ejoyed Captain_Ahab comment, and Osbios´ cinism - rofl XD.
@ Eihrul: Girls who play this game are able to surmount stereotipes ;)

Maybe it's just a personal preference, then, but I hate characters that are based on idealized self/sexual archetypes - examples being Gears of War or Counter-strike models or just female models with little clothing and huge tits and such - which are designed to do nothing more than stroke a person's ego in some fashion or another and/or play to their fantasies. I think these types of characters, on net, alienate people more than they appeal.

I much rather prefer how Sauer's characters so far have a slightly inhuman quality to them, that adds to their whimsy, that creates some small sense of distance between the player and the character. I think it lessens the stigma of killing stuff - the violence seems more remote - and avoids stepping on people's various insecurities that might otherwise prevent them from relating to the game.

I do share what you said on the second paragraph completely.
Although I think that all the characters on Sauerbraten are masculine, but it´s ok. I also know that most of the people that plays Sauer, think that they are always playing against guys...
well I think that we can kill stereotypes. :P

I´m not sure if this player model should be included, I would say no, but it opened a good discussion, and I enjoyed it ;)

Cheers...

From the perspective of a designer, I think a feminine Ironsnout could be very, very cool. I'll see if I can whip up some concepts in the next few days (I would do it now, but I'm in the middle of exams).

@eihrul: Did you follow the discussion about Faith (from Mirror's Edge) after the fan community "tweaked" her design? There were a lot of good points made by both sides of the debate, but I feel like the "we need some normal/athletic female protagonists" camp made some of the best arguments.

@eihrul
Well, I rather disagree. Games are supposed to be fun, and Sauer is fun. But many other games use idealizing and stereotyping to make the world and characters 'cool,' and enjoyable to immerse* yourself in. Not that both can't be done, either.

As to the actual model itself... I have to say I don't like it much. I've been told several times that there's an odd sort of design scheme, which eihrul has just somewhat explained for us. That is, characters should be based on a fairly broad, but not necessarily muscular frame. Marvin2k's model has the right skeleton, but he's trying to make it too human.
My suggestions are:
• double the size of the head and width of torso, arms and legs (try drawing over a pic of IS or Ogro)
• choose _either_ the boots or the T-shirt. If the boots stay, give her something of a matching scifi top (metal). If the shirt stays, well, giver her leather boots or something. My suggestion is keep the boots.
• ugh, the katana. Please curve the blade in the right direction if she has to wear it on her belt. Better yet put it on her back, out of the way yet still cool.
• also, the chopsticks may be overkill. But that's just IMAO.

*Used loosely. Some games don't require much immersion ;)

Hi all.
I was not hoping that there was a discussion as this one. I think is a good discussion. i read entire post and i dont no who was rason. All the coments have part of reason. This way that will make clear that I wanted to do with this model.

I know she is erotic model, i begin this way because the 90% of games, movies, tv, etc.. for youngh people (not childrens, of course) use sexy bodys, but they use potically correct models or actress. So, i want to do exaggerated. With really big boobs, semi nude, like a lot of 70`s comics (for example, barbarella, but they are a lot of examples). And i think thas is worser the violence of games, movies, etc. tham the sexual content, that is much more natural and beautiful. I undestand that it was a fine line between my idea and fashion archetypes. This one is the reason on which I do not decide if she is good or bad.

At least she has served to open a positive discusion.

What do with the model? i dont know. She is made for your, can use or not. We decide among all.

bye.

You know what marvin ? Create another set of hudguns, you'll have more success by doing that, `cause I don't like the actual one and it seems like most of the players dislike them too.
